Is the Acer Chromebook spin 311 (cp311-3h) good for school use?
The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is adequate for academic use. It's a little laptop that's easy to transport and has a battery that lasts nearly sixteen hours of light productivity. It's a 2-in-1 convertible with a 360-degree hinge, so you can spin the screen around to use it as a tablet. Unfortunately, the touchpad is small, and the keyboard, while comfortable to text on, lacks illumination. Its ARM-based SoC can perform light productivity activities, but not intensive workloads such as graphic design.PROS
1. Excellent battery life.
2. Because of its small size, it is easy to transport.
3. Despite the all-plastic chassis, the build quality is good.
CONS
1. Port selection is limited.
2. x86 programs cannot be installed.
3. The screen does not grow bright enough to combat glare.
4. Tiny touchpad made of plastic.

Acer
I do not really enjoy using Acer product, especially their laptop. It had a lot of problem. First it was the speaking, it just stop sounding out, the only way I could listen to audio is when I plug in my earphone. Then the battery just stops charging, it won't on unless I plug it into a current. The memory was not large enough, at a point I had to start deleting old documents to get a new one. I'm not buying any of there product again.

Purchased A Gateway Computer Through Newegg.
It Was Toss-up With Another Computer Brand, Selected Gateway Because The Offering Data Indicated It Came With A Touch Screen. It Did Not Come With A Touch Screen. Screwed.
Newegg Service Did Make A Effort To Find A Program To Activate The Screen, But To No Avail.
Acer/gateway Service Department's Attitude, Option 1, We Will Talk With After You Purchase Our $165.00 Maintenance Plan, With No Guarantee Of Any Kind, Or Option 2, You Are Nothing But A Nuisance To Us, Go Away And Do Not Call Again.
Touch Screen, Nothing But Deception In False Advertising.
Newegg And Gateway Are Good, Would Never Purchase Any Acer Product.

Acer Aspire E15- E5-571-3303
Worst purchase decision of my life. Absolutely fed up.I live in India and purchased Acer E-15 series laptop on the 26th of Jan. it is over 2 months and i have not been able to use the touchpad of this laptop. been to service centre twice. Got on site service twice and i am still struggling to register complaints and get this stupid thing fixed.
Acer is one of those companies which will absolutely waste your time and make you go round and round for almost a year but not give you service. In the end, when the free warranty expires they will cheat you by selling expensive parts and still give you useless service.
It is my request to fellow users, PLEASE THINK 100 TIMES BEFORE YOU BUY ANY ACER PRODUCT. Worthless company and worthless products.

Don't Buy from Acer
Received an acer aspire 5560-Sb609 as a gift and it sucks. Breaks down constantly. Get Blue / Black & White Screens of Death. Battery plugged in but does not charge. Or, as you plug in battery - computer will shut down while you may be working on something and leaves you no time to save. Restart button does not work. As you're typing, the cursor will jump to your left and start typing in between words already typed.Calling the company won't help. Warranty is a joke. Corporate won't help. Sent back to manufacturer for repairs. Gave them a detailed list of problems to fix. All they did was restore to factory settings and somehow messed that up. Computer came back worse.
Please stay away from this company and their computers. You'd be better off just flushing your money down the toilet than to give it to acer.

The price is right.
The one thing that makes Acer shine is the really low price range, but that's the gist of it. The computer quality is quite lackluster, making these devices not a good deal in the long run. They make Dell look like god's gift to computers.

Thinking buying an ACER computer? DONâ??T!
If you are going to throw money away, throw it my way. I made the mistake of buying an ACER Aspire 722 Netbook and within 3-4 months, the case split and a piece fell out. Not only that but the keys stick, itâ??s slow even with 2 gb RAM and the touch pad has a mind of itâ??s own. Some programs I get a flickering line that doesnâ??t go away.
ACER will not back their warranty. When I called customer service, I got some east Indain guy that does his best to void your warranty starting with the case is not covered under warranty. Then he wants you to mail in your computer (at your expense) while they evaluate it for CID (customer induced damage) to void your warranty, but the excuses are endless.
I took it to a local repair shop and they said they would have to remove the screen and take the case apart which would void my warranty and recommended I contact ACER, which I did. I ended up contacting a corporate office in Texas and was given an email address of [email protected] where I addressed my issues with ACER.
Not only did I get no response, when I emailed again, my mail was returned. They will make it impossible for you to have them honor their warranty. They will make you jump thru every hoop imaginable to not honor their product. My computer guys also said that ACER was their #1 for repairs.
Another friend of mine had endless problems with her ACER also.

So my friends, if you are going to throw your money away, donâ??t throw it at ACER. Now tâ??s time to post this letter at each of those websites (including ACERS)and I will do this every year.

Bad quality
I have always used Mac computers, which I recommend to everyone, but many chose Acer because they are cheap. Well, you get what you pay for, and these are not the best computers by far. My friend had an Acer and it got down to where she HAD to have it on the charger or it would die. Not worth it. Save for a mac ;)

If you want a laptop that lasts forever get a Mac. I had the oldest MacBook it kept up speed for years. It finally died due.to physical abuse from my toddler. Now I gotta buy something new...all of these acers will prove to be a waste in the.long term.

Of course my warranty expired Sept 15 and now I have a black screen,,which will cost big bucjs to repair, I am getting so sick of buying new computers year after year, You would think by now that SOMEONE would get them right!...A senior that uses her computer for all family contact, banking, medical contact...now what..I give up

Acer reliability.
I purchased an Acer 17" laptop for my wife and another 15.6" for my daughter. My wife's have proved reliable for about 2 years and is still working fine. The only gripe is the track-pad surface has worn out due to constant use, but that is not uncommon. My daughter's is about 4 years old and apart from running out of drive space and the dreaded Vista it has been fine. I advise people never use their laptop on the bed without a shelf or hard surface between them and the blankets. This causes fans to get blocked with fluff which will overheat the laptop and destroy the CPU of graphics chip. I have serviced various makes of laptops and they are all as bad as each other and it is often the way you treat them. Much the same as a car really.Anonymous-59992.... May 21st, 2012
Working in the school system, projectors that are two years old are failing, six in one school so far this year. Nothing from Acer. No more Acer computers, netbooks, projectors. Nothing Acer in multiple school districts. Stay away from this companies products. You are on your own.

You get what you pay for.
My brother and I had both purchased Acer lap tops around the same time, the specs on them made them seem like a value but little did we know that they would fall apart within the first year of purchase. I want a lap top to at least last 2 years, anything more than that and it is a steal but less than a year is ridiculous. I do not recommend their laptops to anyone.

bought an acer through best buy, tried to make sure it would last as was recently unemployed and wanted it for gaming and job hunting. financed for 48 months, video card died at 44 months, which is on motherboard so computer pronounced doa. Hi all, I guess I have come to the right place to complain about Acer computers, I will never never buy another one of these pieces of crap, which I have had serviced under warrenty sent it back to them of course on my dime $60 came back it worked for a day now I am back to the same issues as before I have tried for the past 30 mins to talk to a live person which is hard to do because they now say I am out of warrenty and they won't take my calls!!!!! WTH kind of company is this??? Not able to talk to someone live!?!?!?!? Why???? For the second time in 16 months I am forking out another RM 5oo for a replacement motherboard. By replacement I mean refurbished second hand motherboard that has obviously, once upon a time, been in someone elses computer. I wonder which poor sucker is going to end up paying RM500 for my crappy motherboard ! We have never had this problem with any of our other computers (not Acer of course). If this company makes a good profit it must be due to duped first time buyers and all the money they rake in repairing the damn things!!!

Acer mass produces mediocre products, not unlike emachines or coby. Basically you get what you pay for, make sure it's new so you have a warranty. 85% of the time you get a decent product that will function but do nothing amazing.

No real issues here
I have never had any real issues with my Acer. I've had the same laptop for about 3 1/2 years. The device has been well used, and the only thing I've had to replace is the touch-pad and the plug. Any other minor software issues I have had with the device I was able to find solutions and fixes for by utilizing Google. I will say customer service for Acer seems to be quite poor, but I have only had to phone them a couple of times.

Hi, I am very DIS-satified with with my acer. I know some have had worse problems, but i have had it for 3 1/2 months and the silver coating that goes around the keyboard and on the mouse is wearing off, its ugly. Besides that the plastice piece that goes around the screen always pops off. I dont want to call and complain cause i really feel they wont do anything for me. I will NEVER buy an acer again...

Acer has only ONE repair center in the US, in temple Texas. ALL customer service calls are routed to India... They do not have (or refuse to give out) the Temple Texas number. If you need something repaired you must send it to Texas wait for 7 to 10 working days for it to be repaired. If it is your only machine or monitor you are S.O.L. you do without. I have two Acer monitors.. I will not ever buy another because I can't get it repaired in a timely fashion

I WENT TO FRYS ELECTRONICS TO BUY A PC. A YOUNG MAN TALKED ME OUT OF BUYING THE ONE I WANTED AND ASSURED ME THE ACER WAS BETTER, EVEN THOUGH IT COST MORE. OF COURSE, HE WORKED ON COMMISSION.
SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS BRAND.
I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON COMPUTERS SINCE 1968, BEFORE THEY HAD SCREANS. HAVE WORKED IN BUSINESSES AND AT HOME AND NEVER ENCOUNTERED A SYSTEM AS BAD AS THIS.
