My 2009 A4 is a lemon. It has a severe oil consumption problem. I would never buy another Audi.

I bought Audi A6 hybrid just a year ago, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and I now believe this is the biggest mistake I have made thus far with a Car. I had a number of options before buying this car but chose this becaise of its technolgical advancement and stated features. Within 3 months of buying, the central locking system had to be replaced (it is another matter that it took 3 weeks for this to be sorted as the dealer here, Euromobil , had to wait for the parts to arrive from Germany); something went wrong with the rear door later on; last week something called "connector" had to be replaced. The car was subjected to full servicing just last week and the same problem recurred with the connector this morning. Totally unreliable piece of engineering - dont know if it is an isolated case or just the poor service support in this city - but one thing is for sure - I will not recommend this car to any one nor an Audi as a brand ever.

Bought an 2004 Audi A4 with 60,000 miles on it for my son. Car is a total money pit. Took it to an the Audi dealer in Cary, NC and they said the car was in great shape. The week after I bought it I paid the dealership over $3000 in repairs. In the 3 years we have had it (it is my son's car who is away at college and doesn't drive it much)I have spent another $7000 on repairs ranging from fuel pump to injector problems to brakes to window motors to door handles not working, that cost $500 to fix (the car only has 110,000 miles on it). The car is an over-engineered piece of junk, looks nice, but can't pass a dealer ship to be repaired. Don't ever buy an Audi....

I can't believe Audi would sell an inferior wired car in minnesota which precipated a huge bill because I was told that cold weather caused the problem. The wiring and connectors for the throttle valve all were replaced because they sold it with wiring for a warmer climate. The worst thing I've ever experienced!!!

My 2005.5 Audi S4 suffered from the catastrophic timing chain plastic pre-tensioner design flaw at 99,100 miles. My dealer wanted $10,000 to fix it. Had to sell it at a loss. Dealing with Audi corporate with this matter was an absolute joke! Audi does not stand behind their vehicles...

A4 2.0T MY2006

At first the car was a pleasure to drive and the turbo was plenty of fun. However, beware - these cars have all sorts of problems and end up costing way too much.

Firstly, servicing is expensive generally average over $1500 after the car reaches 3 yrs. The most expensive service without anything major failing was about $2500.

Secondly, be prepared for major parts failing. The computer that controls the transmission is prone to problems and once they start it needs replacing. Symptoms are unable to reverse, disabled sports mode and a flashing gear indicator. The part was replaced at a cost of $3500.

Thirdly, electrical problems are common and be prepared for brake lights blowing frequently. This car had the brake light blow shortly after a service. It went back to get replaced and then the same light blew again 2 days later. Audi of course do nothing to help and won't admit there's a problem.

The water pump seems to go fairly often and make sure it is replaced at same time as timing belt. Otherwise another expensive service will be upon you when it goes.

Another thing is the suspension arms are now collapsing and need replacing, clearly not standing up to Australian roads.

All this for a car that hasn't seen rough driving. I'd hate to think what happens to these cars when driven by a punishing driver.

Overall, car has cost over $12500 in just over 3 years. Thanks a lot Audi for taking my money - I could have put that money to a lot better use!

As an Audi owner I couldn't be happier with their product. I looked at at compared MB, BMW and Lexus to Audi before purchasing. The Audi design and engineering is head and shoulders above the other brands mentioned. Yes, they can be expensive to repair, but with the AudiCare plan maintenance is covered. And if you wanted inexpensive repairs, you should have bought a Chevy. I've found my delaer's service department very easy to work with - I actually enjoy going there. If you're upset your transmission failed at 100,000 miles and costs 8k to replace, it sounds like you own something you can't afford. Go buy a Camaro and see how long your transmission lasts. I know of many Audi owners that have over 300,000 miles on their cars with no major repairs. Great cars for those that want the most technologically advanced cars on the road today.

I have an Audi S4 2005.5 with 104,000 miles that after spending almost $2,200 found out that the timing chain had jumped and that the tensioner had failed. The fix would be to spend another $7,000-10,000. The audi sits at the dealer waiting for Audi financial to pick it up.
