Barnes And Noble Review

I think Barnes and Noble is overall a nice place to buy books and relax. The books can get pricey and sometimes it's better to buy books online. But the store does have a nice Starbucks. The stores I go to in Colorado are overall clean, peaceful, and quiet. The staff is nice and asks if you need help anytime you walk in. I would most likely recommend this store to a friend.

Barnes and Noble Customer Service

I recently bought a Nook HD for my daughter and it was part of a promotion that if I used my MasterCard I would get a $20. gift card. The card was to be delivered by email on or before Dec 31st 2012. I talked to many customer service reps and even chatted online. Only one seemed to be able to help me... until I now know I was just put off again. FURIOUS!!! I have an 8 year old who is ready to load up her Nook and I am still waiting. It appears that the promotion was just a scam and feel very frustrated and taken advantage of. This is not the protocol that I would have expected from Barnes and Noble. I was told by the last representative that I should have the card in two days, that was Wed. Jan. 9th of 2013. This in now the following Sunday. I have been falsely led on again. Shame on you Barned and Noble.
No stars at all for you. However I have to at least give you one to be able to post this. You haven't even earned that one. Only you can fix this with me.!!

Pricey

This store has a huge selection, but it can be a bit pricey. They do, however, have a great clearance section and their employees are always extremely helpful when help is needed. I have always been able to find the book that I am looking for, and they have an area in the store where you can read books in peace and quiet. I enjoy my trips to this store and recommend it to students and people that love books!

i recieved a nook color for christmas in 2011. I am very happy with the tablet ,but i am highly dissapoined in the fact that i have had to purchase FOUR chargers for the device.I have other devicesand non of those chargers has went out like the charger for my nook color. now i have to buy a fifth charger and i am very dissappointed.I am ready to give up on nook and purchase a different tab ifthis problem cannot be rectified.i love my nook color but it seems like every couple of months i am off in search of another charger .Its not the plug in but the actual cord that plugs int0 the nook. thank you for listening, sarah palma

Excellent store

I love my local Barnes and Noble. They have great products, a great selection, and their customer service goes above and beyond what most would expect from a store. I was able to find what I needed and more.

A great bookstore

Not only do their stores have a huge selection of books but they also offer an ebook store and their own brand of tablets at an affordable price.

Love their book selection

I go to the Barnes and Noble in west town Madison. They re always friendly and helpful there and usually the first to have my Laurell K Hamilton books that I love so much. Their selection is endless and if they dont have it they will find it for you!

EXPENSIVE Books

Barnes and Noble isn't anything special to me. They have okay deals, but the prices of their books seem overly high. Whenever I go there, the store seems to be a mess. Also, the employees have always been a little less than rude. I asked if they have a book of maps and the woman looked at me as if I was ignorant.

books galore

There are a ton of books at barnes and noble. I mean a TON. The books range from a variety of types. From children's comics to great novels. The staff are quick to respond to any questions. There is usually a block of computers that you can access to find the location of a certain book. That was the thing that I thought was the most helpful. Since borders closed, this is the only bookstore that I go to and i don't really need another one since I am content with this one.

An excellent bookstore, that is much more user friendly than many libraries, open longer, has as many books and more people working there. I will miss my B & N if it ever closes, having had many great memories, things to do, authors to listen to, music, magazines unlimited.

Barnes & Noble store coupons not honored for everything

I shop at the B&N up in Salem, NH every Saturday, and regularly use the store e-mail percent-off coupons I receive to buy magazines.

Today I went to use a "15% off one item" coupon to buy a computer magazine. The cashier, who sees me every week, rang up the $13.99, then said "I'm getting a message on my screen that the magazine is not eligible for the discount."

I explained to her that I've never had this happen before (I HAVE bought this same magazine before and used a coupon), but she kept insisting that it wasn't eligible for the coupon discount, and tried to tell me that it says so on the coupon.

I re-read it, and pointed out that what it SAYS is that "digital content, including NOOK books, magazines and periodicals" are not eligible, but it does NOT say that hard-copy magazines do not qualify. She wouldn't call anyone to question it, she wouldn't give me the discount, all she kept saying is that "my screen says it's not eligible."

Every time I said that it means "electronic" magazines, she just kept blowing it off and insisting she couldn't give me the discount because her "screen" said so.

I'm going to try and find out what they mean by "eligible," but I am NOT happy. All they would be giving me off was $2.00, and apparently that was too much money for them to afford. If it doesn't say on the coupon that you can't use it, then they should be bound to honor it, regardless of what their "screen" says.

Machines aren't always right, and in the interest of good customer service, she should at least have been willing to honor it as long as the coupon didn't say it wasn't eligible. She told me that they're using "smart coupons" now, but it sounds more like it's going the other way.

I hope I can find out from their service department exactly whether or not magazines ARE eligible, and if they are, I'm printing the reply and carrying it with me next time they tell me they can't give me a discount I am entitled to.

Love Barnes and Noble stores

I love Barnes and Noble stores, especially my local ones. The staff is always very helpful and their selection is extensive. I have always been able to find what I needed in their stores and pretty quickly as their sections are very clear.

B&N gets it

The variety of books and level of sophistication is awesome. Borders went the cheap/trendy route and went OOB because of it. Love this bookstore; hope they stay around in spite of e-books.

My children bought me the Nook for Christmas. It was obsolete before I opened it. Had to wait weeks for it to update itself to 5.1.

Now it does not support the magazines it sells!!! Only nook color can read magazines. No plans on updating the software.

Don't buy this.

Purchased a Nook Color on December 10, 2010. Power pack stopped charging the Nook within 35 days. Called B&N customer service on February 26 and was promised they would send a new power pack. Received a message on March 10 saying they didn't have any power packs and would send one when they get it. Have now called them 4 times and been told each time they would send one. They gave us a USPS tracking number that was bogus. Will never buy anything from B&N again.
