I went to Thailand via hong kong from new york in may 2011 totalling 18 hours flying.i have never experenced more uncomfortable seats.for that amount of time legs hang down no form of elevation.asked for some bottle water only water from the dirty water tanks available.had to beg the flight attendant for a bottle of water as i had a auto immune disease and could not risk drinking that water. even offer to purchase not available.Water bought inside the secured area in hong kong airport taken away as about to board plane taken away.will never fly cathay pacific again also padding on seats seem to have no padding. just awful experience.

This is what happens with airline route monopolies
Cathay Pacific used to be a premiere airline but the carrier's service has deteriorated to the degree where it's hard to imagine this airline as being anything but average.There's absolutly no customer support, whatsoever. I've been trying to call the airline's customer support number for the past 2 hours and it's been nonstop busy.
I tried their website but it is as inept as their customer support. Aside from taking 5 steps to complete a function, it constantly crashes, regardless of the computer you're using.
The fleet is aging and the aircraft interiors are so worn out, it's disgusting.
I guess you can be below average when you do not have much competition on a route. Hopefully, other airlines will catch on and start serving NY-HKG nonstop but in the meantime, we're taking Continental out of Newark.

I find it hard to believe that this airline, supposedly 5 stars, makes it impossible to speak with anyone. "Manage My Booking" feature does not allow me to make the changes I need to. When I call the internet customer service I get hung up on by the recording each time. Other times both phones for customer service are constantly busy. I have not heard a busy signal on a customer service line ever for any corporation that is even halfway serious. Screw you cathay pacific I will never ever consider flying with anyone who can't even answer a phone properly in the 21st Century. What a joke! Laying off customer service agents or transferring them to foreign countries is the beginning of the end for any corporation. I am truly pissed off! Damn it! Idiots!
