Duracell Reviews

I had an expensive ($200 +) camera flash damaged by corrosion of a Duracell AA battery. The flash had four batteries. Three of them were undamaged and fully charged. The fourth was corroded at the positive terminal. The batteries, dated 2025, were in the flash for about six months, stored in a dry closet. I sent the flash and the batteries to Duracell. After about twelve weeks I received a letter saying that the damage was "rust, caused by abnormal levels of humidity or moisture", not a fault of the battery. This doesn't make sense, because there was no rust anywhere except at the positive terminal of the one battery. Not a happy resolution.

I didn't speak with anyone. This is my first contact with your company.
I purchased some hearing aid batteries size #10 with an expiration date of 3/20. There are 8 per plastic box and, I think 3 boxes to a package, tho I may be wrong about that.
Anyway, in 1 of the boxes, at least 6 of the 8 batteries are dead.
I think in other boxes there were 1 or 2 defective, but 6 out of 8 is too many and you should know about it, and hopefully I will be re-imbursed.

I bought a nice telescopic lens Duracell flashlight that came with Duracell batteries. Well it stopped working early so I checked the batteries and one came out and the other one is stuck in the flashlight. This is wrong and now I have to throw the entire flashlight away. Money down the drain. What does Duracell have to say about this??

I called Duracell warranty phone number holding a package of leaking AAA cells that had a huge label: "Guaranteed 10 YEARS in storage". In my case, all storage is at room temp. They offered nothing! Duracell is consistent even now in 2017 with a leaking battery product. The other brand has never leaked ... I am through with Duracell.

Good afternoon,

I have purchased 9v batteries for my fire alarms. I keep getting one battery out of the two in the package that is very low in power. I use duracell for my business as well as my home. I'm sure duracell has a quality check on batteries not sure if the process is being followed. I would like to continue to us duracell. Not sure if it's worth full price if I'm only getting half.

Thanks

Derek

Thought you might be interested in the life of a AAA battery....I have a hand-held poker machine that I play....was playing the the other day and it died! Sooo I got out my trusty little screw driver, opened it up with full intent of replacing but when I looked at the date on the battery I was astounded........January 2002...that's 15 years!!!! I purchased it in Yuma, Arizona in March 2002. Now this is what I call reliabilty and a great endorsement for your product! By the way, I saved the battery....you want it I will gladly send it to you. Thank you Duracell........

I can't believe that I bought 4D batteries for my flashlight and I only use it maybe 5 or 10 minutes and night and didn't even last a week so I had to buy more for a month supply so that is16 D batteries in one month and then for my little LED lights for under my cabinet takes 18 Triple-A batteries and it didn't even last a week and I only leave them on 15 minutes a night so I will never buy Duracell again unless you guys can do something to convince me that they are good and they don't expire till 2024 and it's supposed to be the duralock

We had purchased the led three pack flashlights and was very diappointed . With low usage or no usage they didn't work. We have been very satisfied with other durecell purchases. Just not sure why they didn't work. Batteries also came With Package with the flashlights.

I purchased a four pack of Duracell cell batteries DL2032.I don't know where these are made, but I can tell you the batteries didn't last 2 days.I will never use your product again, it's a waste of money. If I had kept the packing and receipt the batteries would have been returned.

I purchased 9 Duracell 300 LED Flashlights to keep around the house in case of a blackout, I was shocked when after 2 months in storage I couldn't get one of them to work. When power turned on I went on line to learn of an on going problem with the 300 Flashlight. I installed new batteries in all 9 flashlights to learn that they don't work, what a RIP OFF, not only did I waste my money buying them, I wasted my time and money buying replacement batteries. Lesson learned, don't by DURACELL.

BAD, BAD Light = Garbage = Do Not Buy It = Let This Company Go Bankrupt = Free Replacement X2 Just In Case If Breakes Again, Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.... May 16th, 2016

I bought a Duracell 300 lumen flashlight pack. (3 pack). They wont work even if they have not been used after they sit in the drawer for a week or 2. I bought them at costco. all 3 flashlights are the same ...a complete waste of money. I think Costco has given in to the China junk syndrome in the name of profits.

I can't tell you how fed up I am getting with your batteries leaking and destroying my Mag-Lite flashlites. Today I went to use my Mini-Mag-Lite flashlight and the batteries had leaked and destroyed the flashlite. Corroded the entire flashlite shut and destroyed all the aluminum threads. This is the 4th Mag-Lite your batteries have destroyed, and these lights are quite expensive. I suggest that until you folks can build a battery that doesn't leak possibly you should find something else to build, because batteries are not your strong suite.

So for Christmas I bought a pack of Duracell Batteries. I ended up using the batteries in my "adult toy". I had the toy just standing on my dresser and 5min later steam began to come from the toy. It was so hot I opened it up and the batteries were melted and popped open. This is definitely a little embarrassing to write. However that toy cost me a lot. I do have pictures of the batteries that I can send.

To whom it may concern:
About 5 months ago I purchased 2 (3 pack) Durcell 300 flashlights and only have one that is working. I use strickly Durcell batteries in everything that needs batteries. The problem 4 of these flashlight is when you turn them on they go off after about 10 seconds. I have tried putting new batteries and no luck. The 4th light does not come on even new batteries. Only have one left that works and wonder when it will go out. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong. Don't know wheather to buy more or change brands. These were bought from Costco in Greensboro NC.

I have been a Duracell customer my entire life. Up until past couple of years was a great product. Now just about every single time I use Duracell batteries they leak a day have ruined several of my devices. I have had it......last time ......
not sure what you changed and hope you enjoyed more profit but you now have lost a long life customer. First time in my life I will buy another brand.

So I'm sitting there watching Netflix with my remote on my chest and I hear a bang. A AAA Duracell battery (exp March 2016) has exploded down inside the remote and now the remote won't work! Its a weird feeling to have something inches from your face blow up like that, for no apparent reason.

From the comments below I see that it does no good to call customer service if its not a flashlight malfunction. I'll have a hard time trusting your product enough to use it in my $15 replacement remote when it arrives. Might as well buy the cheap batteries now, the only reason I didn't was I trusted Duracell not to explode and destroy my stuff. Lesson learned - Duracell is no better than the cheap stuff..

Hi, Duracell representative,
We trust the quality of Duracell products so we recently purchased the Duracell flashlights that comes in 3 in a pack. It has '300' printed on the side and '1432' printed on the bottom.
Problem description:
When the button is pushed, the light comes on for 2 seconds and then it turns off by itself.
After opening it up and switching the cylindrical core with another working one, it works. Therefore, some problem is with the 'cylindrical core' inside.
We probably won't return because the other 2 in the same pack are working. But we are just surprised to see such a short infant mortality rate. Perhaps, Duracell needs to revisit the reliability test procedures of this product line.

Regards,

Monica

Awesome batteries

These are the only batteries I have found that last a very long time. They also do not leak like other brands. I trust Duracell to power the flashlights I have on hand for when the power goes out and they always work great.

Leakproof.

I've found that Duracell batteries leak a lot less than other battery brands. Safe for your kids!

Tried and true.

Having used Duracell batteries for years on my handheld games, I found that they last longer than Energizer batteries. They've been reliable for all these years.

.... December 25th, 2011

Two dead 9 volts from two different sources. Mission critical. Failure. Older Energizer worked, thank goodness. Duracell has email for customer support that I can find. That's very telling. Poor product. Would discourage purchasing.

I have been using Duracell batteries since the the early 80's. The batter has been a leader in performance for a wide variety of applications that I have experienced.

I purchased them exclusively until Today. It just struck me that I have had a large number of "Bad Battery" clips over the years and it appears to be growing worse.

The light bulb moment came when an electronic public service weather data receiver (5-day forcaster type) that I just purchased said to use any good alkaline battery EXCEPT DURACELL. At first I could not imaging why they would down the King of all batteries . . . That was my ahaaa moment.

I am not the brightest light in the sky, but I am able to put together the hammer hurts my hand equation, so it is not too much of an extention to look at all my equipment with bad battery damage and see that it was ALL coming from Duracell. I literally only bought specialty silver cells, lithium and the like for cameras and special equipment that were not Duracell for over 30 years. I did not have to wonder what kind of batteries caused the problem.

When I discover this sort of situation, I write a letter like this to the company involved to tell them what I think.

My last letter was about 6 years ago to General Motors, about the quality of their PM accessory motors, brush holders were too tight and the cintered brush lube was not stable, resulting in perfectly good motors failing from stuck brushes. Slam the door and you could get another couple of operations until slamming the door no longer worked. The same for a sprag clutch in the automatic transmission that would go out at 75,000 miles and the power steering that would give up in cold weather.

You are well down this path until several manufacturers are now warning not to use YOUR BATTERIES by Name and Only Your Batteries. That has to be as bad as it gets.

Your fuse is already lit! Fuses are very short and can result in devastation when they reach the end.

My tally is about 3 mag light flashlights, several camera flashes, radio control transmitters, electronic indoor/outdoor thermometers, walkie talkies, and others. I guess I am slower to get the point than some?

But! When I do, I get the point and understand the scope. You are in hot water right now, whether you know it or not. Ignore this and you will be next in line after SAAB!

You need to start a two-part solution yesterday.

1. Fix the problem, damn the bean counters.
2. Make things right with your loyal and new customers.

You can start with me,

Very satisfied

I have never been anything but satisfied with their products. They are a great company with quality products.

Quality Battery

Duracell is one of the leading battery manufacturers. They make quality batteries that work. It pays to get some of the name brand batteries like duracell, because generic often just don't work.
