Affordable and Customer-friendly

You would think that cheap products would be of a low quality, but it's not the case with ikea, (their products are cheap and really great), which is what keeps me coming back.
I highly recommend Ikea for affordable home accessories.

we drove 3 1/2 to from Petoskey to find our kitchen cabinets based off the web site. what we found was a futuristic store selling plastic like furniture, cold and impersonal cabinets with a terrible selection of cabinet doors to choose from. We were completely dissatisfied with the lack of warmth and comfort we were expecting in kitchen cabinetry and appliances.

Fun to explore

If you plan to shop at an Ikea store, be prepared to be there for hours! They have everything you can imagine for the home. I have had 2 bedroom sets from Ikea and I love their look and functionality. They are also very affordable and practical. I've noticed that they also have children's toys and they are really cute. You of course gotta get the meatballs as well ;) They ship to your home and are very kind! The products are easy to put together too!

A unique experience.

Shopping at Ikea is quite a unique experience. The store is set up so that you can actually get a feeling of how it feels to have their supplies in a home setting, so you can better gauge if they fit your needs or not. Their food courts aren't half bad, and are well placed.

Customer Service is horrible

I drove 65 miles to IKEA today to be disappointed and irritated. I have never been there before and never EVER will I go back. First, I wanted to say that if your calling them for any help. Be prepared to wait 30-40 minutes. When I went to IKEA I had the worst customer service. I was buying a bed frame. I understand the concept of buying pieces seperately but if you are unsure of what you need. There should be some kind of assistance. When I did get the assistance it was with eye rolls. How she talked to us was like she was saying we were idiots for not knowing. And in mid question she walked away. When she came back around I approached her again to make sure what I was doing was right. Again same thing. When I had received all that I THOUGHT I needed I drove 65 miles back home to find out that I was missing a piece. I insisted on calling IKEA to tell them I have a missing piece. I again waited...no joke....42mins to talk to a real person. When I did I found out it wasnt a missing piece it was a $10 piece that I needed to by seperate. Which the lady employee failed to mention. When I was talking to the gentlemen about my situation he insisted on telling me it was my fault for not seeing the sign. I apologized for missing then sign. I told him it would still be helpful for there employees to know and help customers if they were unsure. He then told me....wait for it..."IKEA is not based on customer service it is based on self service." WOW. I then demanded to talk to a manager (another 23mins on hold) to find that I was not transferred to a manager but a customer service line that will report a complaint to the manager. He then told me he was sorry for my experience with IKEA and hope the next will be better....period...thats it. Unfortunely I cannot find my $10 piece anywhere near here and will have to drive to IKEA. You will be sure I will be talking to a manager.

Home delivery from Croydon store

Terrible service. The bed we bought with next day delivery arranged, turned up with one part missing, the two we were given being labelled 1 and 3! Delivery men say that they were not given it by the store. Three phonecalls to IKEA did not get me any further. I got inconsistent information delivered by rude staff. I filled in an online complaints form and got an email 4 days later. I replied and am still waiting for an answer 5 days later. The missing part is coming on Saturday - 10 days later. Without my follow-up it would never have come at all. And this is from a customer who spent over £1000 in the store last week. Never again will I use IKEA, except for the marketplace with cutlery etc you can carry home yourself. It is worth paying more for proper service from companies who care about their customers.

IKEA's horrible customer service & the most deceptive return policy!!!

IKEA is a decent place to shop, so long as you never experience their customer service or ever need to return any item! Contrary to their numerous signs stating "It's ok to change your mind" & "If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, simply return the unused item in its original packaging within 90 days", they WILL NOT refund your money, period! Notice the phrase in their policy stating "unused item in its original packaging", and they mean it!! If you remove any item what-so-ever from the original packaging (even to inspect the item), you're item will be considered 'used' & therefore non-refundable. I literally had items break down within days of their use. 'Unsatisfied', I returned them (with the original receipt, packaging & well within the 90 day limit) and I was told they couldn't allow the return due to their condition!? I calmly re-clarified that their 'condition' was specifically why I was returning the items. IKEA remained adamant & ultimately did not accept the return. Not only did they not refund my purchase, the supervisor was exceptionally condescending. I stated that their customer service was absurd & their inability to resolve this relatively simple issue will encourage me to never purchase from IKEA again. The IKEA supervisor literally seemed indifferent...

People won't get back to you

I bought a desk chair from Ikea, and it started falling apart within 3 months from buying it. I contacted Ikea about it, seeing that it was well within warranty, but to no avail. I would hope that my situation was rare...

Love Ikea

My boyfriend and I regularly shop here and are always impressed with the selection of products. They are cost effective and simple to put together.

canteen

Ikea for value for money is good, basically you get what you pay for,BUT the food hall I' not going to call it a restaurant as that would be an insult to all other establishments. I queued for a long time to get the 'food' then queued for even longer to pay, then trying the cold fish and chips the fish was frozen!! never again!!!

Ok store, if you want cookie-cutter stuff

Ikeas are gigantic retail stores that sell furnishings and other little household do-dads. They have chic looking stuff, but at the end of the day, it is really not that unique. It is however, a great way to load up on the stuff you may need for a new house in one stop.

The service is terrible!!! I called Ikea customer service & asked to be transferred to the store in Calgary which took about 45mins altogether incl. harassement by the Ikea representative saying they can't transfer to the store. Finally they transferred me supposedly to the manager of "resolutions" at the Store level. I asked if they would consider taking back a futon, since it is still sealed in the box in perfect condition, never opened, with receipt after 45 days. Yes I was told after checking the product numbers, I could get a gift certificate in return. On March 23,2011 we went to the time & expense of taking the article to the store, & there we were told: we weren't talking to the store manager(as I was lead to believe) but Resolutions Dept.in another city, & no we could not get a refund. The next opportunity a couple of days later I called & tried to get to the Calgary store, the Ikea rep said no he had to open a file first which he did. I gave him all details & after checking the items on their inventory list stated yes I would be able to get a refund (gift card), but that he couldn't transfer me to a Manager at the Calgary store because it was after hours & the store Manager had left for the day. A Manager would call me back he said. Instead a "manager" from the call centre called back however & left a message saying "I know you were told you could get a refund but you can't". I called back Mar. 26th & after another 35 mins, and rude harrassment by the Ikea rep., she said she would leave a message so that the staff on Monday could contact the Calgary store manager and return my call. No one ever called me back. Ikea's "resolutions dept" is a joke!! And sadly Ikeas's word is worthless. I would not recommend shopping at Ikea unless you want nothing but headaches!!!
