I ordered wine with by the glass at dinner at the Marriott Hotel beach front restaurant in Kaanapali, Maui. The first glass tasted like it had been open and turned to vinegar. Same with the second and third choices. On the fourth choice I ordered a bottle of wine and it too wasn't good even though I am familiar with the brand. The waitress poured a full glass out of the bottle and said you won't need to test this one. In fact did but wasn't given the option. I have never had four wines in a row be so bad. I suspect that in such a warm climate Marriot is not properly storing their wines.

Checked in at the East Fairfield site, Long Island NY just before Hurricane Sandy. Their generator was for minimal emergency lighting as it turned out. They knew the storm was coming and they could have had a generator brought in to supplement their existing one and powered the whole complex; other hotel chains did. This is the second stay in two years, and third less-than-stellar performance will be strike three if they don't get it together.

Courtyard Marriott Tucson Arizona puts people first

Just spent 4 days at the Hotel and wanted to share with all of you that friendliness, personality and true genuine kindness is alive and sincerely demonstrated by the employees at the Marriott. We were there for Convention and the first day Friday I awoke before my roommates and dressed and went to get a newspaper from lobby. To my surprise there were just a security guy and the front desk clerk...here I thought it was 5:45 am and it was 2:45 am. Lol. Yes, I use reading glasses normally. Joe the front desk clerk made me Starbucks coffee from the Bistro there and the security guy continued on with his rounds. I went back to my room and Joe said he would bring me paper when they arrived.. Previously, the night before Lindsay front desk clerk had made me copies of very old papers on project I was helping neighbor with......and not only were they old they were literally all different sizes and shapes and must have taken her a long time to arrange them, staple them and keep them in order. What a gem !
There is no ice machine for the first floor guests to get their own,one is simply asked to get it at the Bistro inside the Lobby. I got ice twice myself and the woman was very nice (Janna) and she even brought it around to my basket on my knee walker and loaded it for me. Little things matter to guests yes that's true. And you'll find that at the Courtyard Marriott Tucson Arizona. You won't be disappointed in your stay there. All the employees did an excellent job even with so many Convention guests there from the maids to the gardeners to the pool guy and no trash anywhere very clean property. We would come back again.

unexpected service

Prior to my sister's death, I had to immediately leave my home and journey to another state to be at her bedside. Under much duress, I completely forgot my billfold which contained all my personal id and cards. I made a reservation at a Fairfield Inn on the spur of the moment. Upon arrival, I found that I had no Reward id with me or other personal info. The clerk was very gracious, looked everythig up for me and assured me I was not far from my destination.Because of her attentiveness to my situation( I was not thinking clearly)I was able to arrive at my sister,s bedside and was able to tell her "goodbye" in person. I do not remember the clerk's name or the location of the Inn but it is an incidence that remains fixed in my mind.So good to know that people of this character are employees of Mariott.

Broken guarantee

Marriott is in business to make money and nothing else matters to them. I had a guarantee on my credit card for a room at the Marriott at Wentworth by the Sea, with check in after 4 PM. The vacation was long planned. When we arrived slightly after 5 PM, we were told they had given away our room because they were overbooked and they had a first come first served policy. They sent us to a Sheraton a few miles away where stayed in an apartment that the hotel owned. Although Marriott paid for this it ruined our vacation. No one should ever trust these guys.

We were treating ourselves to a fine dinner at Kansas City Airport Marriott, 03/29/11.

We waited an hour to get the limp salads, paid $59.92 for: beef tips over noodles served at room temperature, cold coffee, and went to the bar ourselves twice for glasses of wine as the waitress would seldom come to our table.

Sad as it's not in keeping with Marriott's fine name.
