Horrible Customer Service
Horrible. I used a search engine and entered my respective dates that were NOT flexible. I got a few hits and the lowest price was for orbitz so I clicked on their button read through the no cancellation policy, entered my credit card info and clicked purchase. When I get the confirmation 2 minutes later, it is for another date. So, I immediately call them at 3:30 PM CDT (their time) and get an "outside business hours" message. So I immediately sent an email with details for them to cancel or at least reschedule it since I still need a hotel for the original dates. I hear from them the next day and am told they have to check with the hotel. I didn't hear back from them within 24 hours so I emailed them again and called the hotel directly. The hotel indicated they do not even have the reservation, so Orbitz would have to handle. Got response from Orbitz saying they would get back to me and never heard back. I am disputing with my credit card company now, but based on this experience I will NEVER used them again. I am not sure if the issue was with the travel broker site I used or Orbitz but either way they never got back to me and could've cancelled this before it even got processed and did not. And, who doesn't have customer service at 3 PM in the afternoon?

Recently booked flight for a family safari in Nairobi, tickets on the return wen thru INdia and required Visa's for the family. There is NO on site visa option for American when traveling to India. We lost two full days of our trip to processing VISA's otherwise we would not be able to leave Africa. We contacted Orbitz on several occasions to change itineraries, not to fly thru India home and were not able to make changes unless we would pay $4000 x4 = $16,000 for our family to return. In turn, we lost one whole day of our safari $4,000, and the cost to process visas was close to $1500. A simple flag that we needed VISA's would have saved us time, $$$ and lots of stress.

The easy to use interface of the website makes it very simple to arrange the vacation of your choice. Flights and hotels are readily findable.

Horrible Service
We booked a trip with Orbitz that included two free show tickets. The problem is we are not able to make the reservation because it is a non working number. They tell you to redeem within 72 hours. BUT YOU CAN NOT!!! Trying to reach someone on the phone is impossible. Do not ever book a trip with this company. They are horrible.

EZ Rent a Car... Not so Easy!
So I booked this car on Orbitz and picked "airport" for my pickup location. Well, when my options for cars came up, it included non airport car rentals as well but I didn't realize this. So I book my car and when I get to the airport, I can't find the desk. I call the company and they say they are 3 miles from the airport. Grrr. But they are sending someone to pick me up, if I will just wait at the very end of the terminal by the shuttle sign. So I wait and wait. Finally I call them and they say they can't find me. I say, I'm at the end, like you said. "I never said that!" the guy says, "And my driver has been circling and circling. You went to the wrong place!" Okay, so what does the vehicle look like? "Oh, it's an unmarked silver van." Great, scary stalker van. Okay, so they guy picks me up. It's this total hoodlum-looking dude. At this point, I'm truly hesitating getting in the van. I'm thinking, is the point at which the viewers are looking at the TV screen yelling "DON'T GET IN THE VAN, YOU IDIOT!" Hmmm, so idiot me, I get in the van and we drive in total awkward silence to this little dumpy car rental place the size of my closet. They've got space to park, like 6 rental cars in their parking lot. Anyway, to make a long story short, they were unprofessional, not as advertised, charged more than what Orbitz said they would, and I was just generally really stressed out by the whole ordeal. On the bright side, they weren't tricking me into a dark alley to rape and murder me. Why, Orbitz, when I chose "airport location," did I instead get this scary, stressful experience?

Misrepresentation - Not what I paid for.
Want a car? Great low prices BUT they don't tell you that the insurance you buy isn't worth the paper it's written on. It isn't the same insurance you get from the car rental company. Oh, book a hotel -- great ! But wait, we'll tell you the room has A/C -- surprise, it doesn't. We'll tell you it has complimentary WI FI internet access -- ooopps, it doesn't. Go ahead and call orbitz to make a change -- good luck. I was on hold at the rental car pick up location for 1.5 hours and never talked to an agent. I was on hold for 2 hours at the hotel room that didn't have A/C -- and never talked to a customer service person. I paid over $1500 for a room and car and DID NOT GET WHAT I WAS PROMISED ! Oh, and don't bother talking to the rental car company -- they point the finger at Orbitz and do NOTHING to help. Don't talk to the hotel operator -- they point the finger and ORBITZ and do NOTHING to help ! If you want to get ripped off -- do business with Orbitz. If you want to get what you are promised -- deal directly with the car company and the hotel operator. I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH ORBITZ AGAIN !

From all the negative comments I have been reading, I feel calling Orbitz to dispute the $10 extra dollars they charged me for my one-night hotel room won't be worth my time and I probably won't get my money back. I paid $50 for a one-night stay at a hotel and when I left the hotel the next day, my total bill was $40. I was going to discuss this issue with them online through chat or in an email, but because of the nature of my problem, my only option was to call them. Although I am out $10 extra dollars, I don't want to waste my time with them and argue knowing I won't get anywhere. I know now I will certaining NOT be doing business with them again. Thank you for all who posted and gave me the feedback I needed. I do feel sorry for all the people who got screwed by this company.

The absolute WORST experience possible. I will NEVER use this company again. I booked a flight to MX in Nov 2010. Later the SAME DAY, I changed the destination, was informed (as I knew) that I was eligible for a courtesy cancellation and rebooked to a different airport. I was BILLED FOR BOTH TRIPS and have not been able to get a refund for the CANCELLED flight, which Orbitz claims was NOT cancelled for another month. This should be, but apparently is not, illegal. I think that what they have going is a good and very profitable SCAM!!!
