Do not travel with this absolutely awful airline !!

Stranded in Fort Lauderdale no flight to put my family on for 3 days they do not give a ...about you so at our expense we have now had to stay at a hotel for 3 nights missed 3 days of work and go fired for it ! you spirit airlines NEVER EVER AGAIN , you should not be in business can not even all you and talk to a live person .

no good

Three times in a row my surfboards have not made it to my destination. On a nonstop flight. I don't even know how its possible to suvk so bad. They are horrible

4 1/2 hours delay and provided no help whatsoever

My son has a college visit / interview today 04-14-16. The biggest mistake I made with all his educational future riding on it was dealing with Spirit Airline. Great price, but nothing else. 7:20 AM became 9:00 AM delay, then 11:00 AM, then 12:01 PM. I don't think they even had an airplane. They never came out to tell the truth, so that it only created a little inconvenience for leisure traveling passengers, but for people with important appointment like my son, the college already viewed his timeliness as a problem (totally unfair to him.) If I knew, I could have intervened, and rushed to buy him another ticket from another airliner to LAX and deal with it, but they never let anyone know the real reason for repeated delays. The college person who waited at the arrival airport LAX could not wait hours for him so she went back to the college campus. Now, even if my son can go by 12:01 PM today (which I doubted very much,) he had to make his own way to the college, and reschedule the interview. What a nightmare! Beware of this airliner. You pay a discounted price, you get a discounted experience. No storm around the country, so they cannot use the weather excuse. Phone customer service was no help. Airport ticket counter has no one around.

Departure counter

For me the experience was terrible I was told that I could not have a purse and a carry-on bag and that was very confusing because I saw other people that did have posts and carry-on .

poor phone service

No customer support. Very difficult to get a real,person that understands you

Could not remember my spirit number website kept trying to make me reset password but would not let me even after sending me new temporary pass words I then tried to buy a ticket full price but then kept on insisting my email account is already being used then finally got hold of customer service and they could not help me because the good people in India are the only ones that handled the customers that have problems with the .$9 fare club. My representative from India was doing a fine job with English but had no clue how to handle my problem. I then went online to Jet Blue and was speaking with a booking agent in just a minute told them of my problem with Spirit and within 5 minutes had me on the flight I wanted and even waived the booking fee. If you fly with Spirit you already know it's a cut rate airline but it just gets to a point where it's just worth a little more to be able to speak to a real person without jumping through hoops

As we are landing attendant says " we hope you enjoyed your flight" Ok, what is to enjoy. First a 3.5 hour redeye from Vegas to Detroit with no water offered. The only way to get a liquid was to have a credit card. The sales pitch for the credit card. 15K bonus miles. Great, then I also need to pay $100+ for baggage and $60 for a seat a human can fit into. The best was on this redeye where people like to sleep, they kept the lights on for 30 minutes while they sold their $4 bottles of water. Spirit, you are not a low fare airline. You are nickel and dime champion of the world. Plus, you look through all checked bags without me watching and I had a golf putter cover and driver putter cover stolen. What an airline. People, pay more, fly with a carrier that does not stick you everything. Soon air will $3.99/minute.

Worst Customer I Have Ever Experenced. No Matter What Number I Call I Cannot Get A Person To Talk To. My Account Is Showing Zero Milege And I Have Not Booked A Flight. Also I Have Nnot Been Able To Redeem The 2500 Free Spirit Bonus Miles For Myself Or My Wife. Will Probaly Never Fly Spirit Again.

Review of Spirit Airlines



Booked a great rate $151.00 trip to New Orleans 8-28-13

Arrive at DFW an hour prior to flight and got through security easily.

Issues with Spirit Airlines Flight Departing Dallas

Access to this flight was a long walk through DFW. Very far comparison to others

Arrived at gate and two Spirit airline employees were in a personal conversation. They turned acknowledge me with a head nod and then turned back to each other and continued their personal conversation for several minutes while ignoring me and others who waited in line to speak to them. They moved away from the desk so their conversation could not be heard and after about five minutes of waiting, one employee finally turned and asked me what I needed.

When pulling out my board pass, I noticed it said no carry onâ??s. I went to the desk again and inquired. I was told I could pay 100 at the gate or call a 1-800 number and pay $50.00 over the phone. I opted for the phone, paid the fee and finally boarded. Flight cost now up to $201.00 + 30.00 for seat = $231.00.

Flight to New Orleans was scheduled to leave at approximately 12:30 and arrive in New Orleans at approximately 2:00. This flight was delayed and I arrived in New Orleans around 3:30ish.



Issues with Spirit Airlines Flight 2 Departing New Orleans

Arrived at the airport a little more than an hour before the flight, got through security smoothly.

Arrived at gate an hour early and the sign said â??on timeâ?? departure 2:22pm. No one was manning the gate and I waited. As the time approached for the flight and no attendant at the gate I started talking to others waiting and was told the flight was delayed per the website. Other flights time came and went, with no communication from Spirit Airlines.

At 2:53pm, approximately 25 minutes after my flight should have department, a gate attendant came over the loud speaker and told us there was a delay. Its 3:15 and still no plane, although there was a warning that it was 20 min out.

Cost of flight is now up to $281.00 and no soda or drink on the plane. What a sorry excuse for an airline. No communication, nickel and dime you to death, charging extra for carry onâ??s. So, why donâ??t you just advertise the real price?

Flight to Vegas

The first time I flew to Vegas on Spirit I was very upset. I paid $87.00 round trip I was telling all my friends about this great deal from Spirit. When the day finally came and I made my trip it cost me 175.00 just for my luggage.I was pissed. I had to check in with the airline because of the luggage and she said and I quote " well you could of checked in on line and saved 10.00 dollars" I swore I would never fly Spirit again. Then my daughter buys me this $9.00 flight club and I'm telling you Not a problem any more. I fly with just a carry on no fee,I have extra clothes that I leave at my daughters house.The seats are very cramped but I now check in on line, reserve my seat too. What I learned from this experience is if it's sounds like a great deal chances are there is a catch... read the fine print. Save yourself a headache.

Horriable time on spirit!!!

I'm handicapped in a wheelchair and paid a driver to drop me off at the atlantic city airport, with two 1/2 hours early and was told they wouldn't let me on ! I was going to a family funneral and had people to pick up in Orlando airport....they told me they had overbooked the flight checked in and paid 3 day's before, and paid $700.00... They made me wait from 1:00pm till next day in wheelchair in aiport....everything closed at 7:00pm that night....it took me,till next day to get a flight out of A.C. to Orlando. And no place to sleep but in wheelchair and no help for bathroom,etc....I still try and fly other carriers before the added cost and horriable customer service,and they made me check an overnight bag for extra money and I had to wheel myself A.C. and Orlando was to be waiting....HAHA...and missed funneral
and broken seat...WHAT A TRIP

Overall flying experience

We recently chose Spirit Airlines to fly to Denver Co because of the so called "cheap" tickets. I find it hard to believe an airline would charge for seats, any baggage ( carry on or checked) and not even offer a free glass of water when in flight. They have extremely rude uncaring flight attendants, filthy planes, very small uncomfortable seats that do not even recline. What a horrible airline. I don't care how "cheap" the tickets I would rather spend extra money to have a decent flight.You will never see me waste my money again. Shame on you!!!!!!

Don't Fly Spirit

I had to pay an extra 400 for my trip to Miami Beach. They said I wasn't in line on time but the spirit website says be here 30 minutes early.... WHICH WE WERE! DONT FLY SPIRIT

Worst Customer Service!

1st shock add-on fee was $180 for 4 carry on size bags, then MNPLS attendant told us to sign up for the $9 fare club. We did & then were told in Ft. Lauderdale on the flight back that they don't recognize it there! So another $180 added on for the way back for 4 carry on bags. To add insult, I got my credit card bill & Spirit $9 club cost me $59.95 & they put in on my credit card TWICE! I cancelled my $9 fare club membership after the trip since we couldn't use it & they said all Spirit could do is refund one of the $59.95 fees. Have NOT seen it refunded yet! I have a brother that is a pilot for Spirit & a good friend that is one of their attendants & only used Spirit to show my support for them, will NEVER use this airline again! Also, had many customers @ every airport complaining about Spirit & delays....

Don't fly Spirit Airlines

This airline has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! I had to wait on hold for a total of 30min! No one seems to know anything or care about their customers for that matter.

First and the LAST time flying them.

My luggage fit into the container and was considered free on my trip from New Orleans to Dallas. They made us get off the flight to change crew and upon boarding again, they said I had to pay! $100! What a scam! I would have paid in advance if it wasn't going to considered free in the first place.

No one answers because they know its going to be another complaint. Who can last the longest on the phone before customer service picks up??? I will be spreading this horrible experience with other social media sites.

Don't Fly Spirit!!

They are rude, charge at one place for carry on bags at $50 a bag another, no complimentary drinks, they charge u for a pillow and blanket, seats are hard very cramped.

Booked a flight online and ended up getting a flight to Dallas on Spirit Airlines.It never occurred to me to check to see if there was a charge for a carry on.Almost every airline I fly on DOES NOT CHARGE A CARRY ON FEE!What a shock to find out at the airport that SPIRIT AIRLINES CHARGES A CARRY ON FEE!I was about to book another flight with spirit but after this I'll be doing my flying with a different airline.You just lost a customer,but somehow I doubt it even matters.

Worst fly ever!!!! I will never ever,not even for a dollar flight book with this company again, worst costumer service in the industry. The flight attendants were awful, rude, disrespectful; I even hear one of the flight attendants scremming to a passenger. What an awfull experience. I will advise all my friends and whoever is going to book a flight to satay away from Spirit airlines, specially from their flight attendants.

Rip off

I paid to join the $9 club but I can never find fare for less than $59. I checked rates in Dec on Orbitz and Expedia and they had same rates for Spirit as a member gets on most flights. Then I was offered 4 free flights for taking their credit card but the points do not even cover one flight! They are a rip off!

This weeks travel.

Based on my experience this week, this is not a low cost airline and charges was too much for the service it provides. The passenger seating is very crowded and the flight was a non-stop advertizing campaign for high cost add-ons.

I am really upset I have traveled with spirit for many years. I am a disabled woman and I was charged $50.00 dollars for a carry on Really! I had my purse and one carry on for my medications because the last time I checked them they were lost for two days so now I keep everything I need so if luggage is lost I will be ok. Very unhappy. My son and I just returned to Tampa from a business trip in Las Vegas and unfortunately we were booked on Spirit Airlines for the return leg. Our woes started when we went to book in with 2 carry-ons and were told that these would cost $50.00 each, but if we wanted to put them in the hold, we could save $5.00 each and only pay $45.00 per carry-on. To say I was blown away by this, is putting it mildly and I let the staff know that I would NEVER fly Spirit again. But wait, the surprises had only just begun....we were seated and I immediately noticed the following:
There was no in-flight magazine in ANY seat
There were no air-sick bags (not that I need them)
There was NO entertainment for the 5 hour flight - neither music nor movies
There was no complimentary coffee/coke/snacks - you had to BUY them (I figure after charging me for carry-ons, the least they could do is settle my nerves with a free cup of Joe, but NO SIR)
The cokes were $3 a tin and coffee $2
The aircon was so weak throughout the plane that passengers were complaining (and I can attest that I've had kittens that could pass wind with more force than their "air-jets")
I went to the rest-room and the biggest sign that this is a JOKE of an airline was hanging behind the door. I kid you not....as an air freshener, they had hung a coffee bag! I mean c'mon, how much can a proper air-freshener cost? And it will last 30 days (unlike the coffee bag)
All in all, Spirit will NEVER see another cent from me and I honstly hope they close shop and make way for the airlines that truly try and make their passengers happy.

Just wanted you to know that I flew out of Detroit to Dallas and back this week with my family. It was the first and last time I will fly spirit. An hour plus late both ways. All the charges. The person at the boarding gate making constant anouncements about charges for every service. Cramped seating, I'm 6'3 . The flight was fine but I'm going back to delta and American .

The Greyhound of the skies. Buyer beware. The prices are cheap at odd flying times but the customer should note that the SEATS DO NOT RECLINE making your flight MISERABLE. This is not stated anywhere by Spirit - an obvious ommission.

Extremely cumbersome/Ineffective Tel Svc

My above speaks for itself. When U call another country's people to "help" answr
questions U have about a simple flight and they aren't too sure or the conversation keeps breaking, the customer is the loser. U guys are the equivalent of Ryan Airlines in Europe.
The worst airline because it's also known as the cheapest 1: it gives you what you pay for!!! Let's see how much longer you last at the rate U are going.

Cannot access your cite to register certificate. Your off peak DAYS, not hours, to use these miles are very few on the calendar. I'm sorry I have your Spirit card for it is practically useless for so called free air travel.

Portland to vegas to san diego

Your carry on luggage fee didnt reach me until minutes from departure. They didnt take payment over the phone at the desk. Had to call my sister,who was on hold for an hour. Missed the flight. Came back the next day and made my flight. Got a voucher for 2500 miles during the flight for signing up for credit. Now i cant redeem it. No customer service number....what your customer service number. I would like to speak w someone.

changed our entire flight itinerary 1 week before departure

We booked 2 round-trip tickets from Latrobe to Florida 3 months in advance of our cruise. The departing flight was supposed to be non-stop with arrival in Florida at 1:00 p.m. One week before our departure date I got an email From Spirit stating that our flights had changed, our departing flight would now leave at 6:00 pm with a 3 hour layover in Charlotte NC and finally arrive in Florida at 11:30p.m. - our flight home was pushed back a day. When I called to complain and cancel my flight I was connected to someone in India who did not speak clear English, when I asked who I could complain to I was told that they do not have a customer service department. WHen I asked for a refund to book another flight I was told it would take up to 20 business days to get my refund. I person that I spoke to seemed to have no concept of the trouble this caused my husband and I and he could care less about my satisfaction as a customer. I WILL NEVER FLY WITH SPIRIT AGAIN!

Spirit airlines, this is to notify you that your seats are not safe. I am six feet tall and not overly large yet my shoulders extended into both adjacent seats and my knees were jammed against the seat in front. Fortunately the person in front was small so that when they attempted to push their seat back it hurt but did not permanently injure me. Your various charges are also beyond the pail, especially since they are different from every one else's. At 40 pounds it is almost impossible to not exceed your bag weight limit. Finally your seats are dirty, many of the trays do not work properly, and your trash removal people enter too soon, interfering with the planes disembarkation. I could go on, but that is enough for now.

Watch out what could be a great deal with spirit could turn out to be more costly

Booked my flight with spirit thinking that it was a great deal. I altered by trip by selecting airports with spirit which appeared to have the best deal and had to plan pickup and transportation to me final destination. After luggage charges I could have travel to my desired airports and paid the same money. In addition having to pay for a cup of coffee is ridiculous. Never again

baggage over charge

on 01/03/12 I escorted my grand daughter to Detroit metro airport for her trip back home to Florida. We weighted her 1 checked bag on the airlines scale it weighted 34 lbs. when we got to the check in window they charged her $38.00 for her one checked bag. We asked the agent why the $38.00 charge and she pointed to the check in kiosk which said $38.00 and she said that is the charge. The sign at check in said 35 to 50 lbs. charge would be $25.00.

I fly Spirit Air frequently using my points and being a $9 club member. While Spirit may not have the amenities of some other carriers it gets me back and forth to my destinations. I feel for a few hours of travel one can put up with a little bit of confined spaces and not being served food and drink.

Spirit Cancelled my flight.. no refund

Hurricane Irene caused my flights to be cancelled, not even delayed.
Had to leave within 2 days, but Spirit was not able to accomdate me, so I had to fly another carrier.
They don't want to issue a refund, despite their own policy stating that they would give the option of a refund if it was not cancelled or changed by the customer. Still fighting them.

I've had a horrible experience with Sprit Airlines. At the airport, after waiting in line for 30+ minutes because spirit has no kiosks, we're told - after inquiring about our flight status - that it is delayed for four hours. All we received is a $14 food voucher for the airport - which will hardly cover anything for a four hour delay at the airport - and they refused to comp the seat reservation I paid for as well at the $70+ I paid for checks and carryon baggage. No apologies, reasonable accommodations, and horrid customer service had led me to tell anyone possible NOT to use this airline. You're better off paying more for quality. 0 stars.

Stolen Goods

On June 25,2011 on my way back from Jamaica one of your employee decieded to help themself to some items in my bags. What kind of people do you hire? It sad to say while i was being checked from head to toe someone was helping themself to my personal goods. I will never use Spirt Airlines again.

Can't print boarding pass on Spirit.com

I've been trying to print my boarding pass for the past 12 hours getting an error message every time stating that the site has a high number of visitors and to try later. 12 hours straight??? My flight leaves in another 10 hours!! What to do? Way to go, Spirit.

Heres a good one. We have booked our vacation to Jamaica, leaving this Saturday 4/2/11, I called ahead to prepay for my bag, one bag. We have a layover in Fla. and were told that we have to pay the baggage fees for one domestic flight and one international flight. One prepaid checked bag, total $122.00 Cheap my butt.................Never again. Stick with AA or USAir, you will end up saving in the end.
