Atrocious service

We filed with TurboTax, and a lender is demanding proof of filing.

They make it nearly impossible to get a human, and their phone system is awful! OMG, it's one of the worst ever!

I never did find a human that I could ask a question of. Their phone system kept hanging up on me after it decided that it had given me an answer.

F'ing sadistic morons designed it. A**holes all.

I will never touch another Intuit product ever.

Turbo Tax, the only thing worse than the product is the customer "service"

Turbo Tax provided my information to a 3rd party without my knowledge or consent. When I requested a refund, they refused to cut me a check and demanded I put more of my information into online forms. I have zero faith in this company. The executives have their email addresses posted online, don't bother trying to contact them, they don't respond which shows the culture of greed and horrible customer service start at the top.

I was charged $72 using the free and state forms. It made me complete everything and at the end it switched over to the deluxe package. Very deceptive and will NEVER use turbotax again. I'm going with Taxact.

.... May 12th, 2015

the turbo tax program was absolutely terrible this year. I have wasted countless hours trying to figure out problems.

A waste of time and money

I couldn't believe one year when I tried this product it took me five time as long as just using the IRS materials. Skip it.

Like others.....no schedule C or D so after using your deluxe program for 10+ years I just switched to H&R Block's program and so far no complaints. It supported my OSX 10.6.8, was cheaper; loaded quickly; transferred my 2013 TT info.......bye by Turbo Tax......not a good business decision on your part.

Very disgusted!

I will preface that I know I should not have waited until the last minute. Doing my taxes last night was a hugely stressful experience. It took me 4 hours to complete per extremely slow downloads of each page and entry. Will not be using them again. The longest wait of all was when they were done. It took over an hour to officially file them and get confirmation. The page would not reload and the screen kept freezing. Unfortunately my data stayed put. NOT COOL TURBO TAX!!!!

Turbotax Disaster in 2012

I have used Turbotax without any significant issues for probably 10 years. This year it has had endless glitches. My husband had some consulting income this year for the first time, and it kept recalculating deductions and doing things like adding my unreimbursed teacher expenses to my husband's consulting business costs. I had also changed one of our kids from dependent in a prior year to non-dependent this year, and, even though it clearly showed her as a non-dependent on the forms, when I tried to e-file our return was rejected because the IRS said we were claiming a dependent who had already filed, claiming herself. We also filed partial-year returns in New Jersey, and Turbotax kept making extra subtractions from the NJ income, subtracting the same deductions multiple times. I could not get it to do these calculations correctly. Numbers kept randomly appearing in the wrong places. I do NOT think this was my mistake, because I have done our taxes on Turbotax for many, many years, and I know how to fill out the forms. After paying for efiling for 2 states and federal, we had to give up on efiling (because Turbotax could NOT get the returns right), file for extensions, and take the whole mess to an accountant. When I tried to contact Turbotax I left messages on the online help line and NEVER GOT A RESPONSE.

Turobtax u SUCK! So much for customer support! Will choose H&R Block next year!

Needed help filing an amended tax return, tried all the online question references with no help so I dialed the customer service number knowing it would be a long wait since it is April 13. After an hour waiting patiently, a so called tax professional has not got a clue as to what I am talking about, even though I am reading the screen word for word to her. I then tell her my phone number and tell her that if for some reason we get disconnected to call me back, she states she already has all my info and not to worry. She then sends me to a share screen and loses me on the phone. I waited patiently for another 45 mins. for her to return my call for nothing. No return call, no email, no nothing! Will be going to H&R Block to help file my ammend

2012 TurboTax

I came back to TurboTax from Tax Cut two years ago as my brokerage 1099 data downloads did not support TC. Bought the Deluxe package from Amazon when TT started advertising a $10 rebate. It was still $20 more expensive than Tax Cut. The CD (hardcopy) gave me one efile for Federal and one state prep, but no state efile. Decided not to spend $20 for the state efile and used a 45 cent stamp.

For the State of Conn, TT defaulted to their debit card re-imbursement. I wanted direct deposit. Found the location to change this on the state form and set it for manual override. Still got an error tied to my selection of direct deposit. "Help" for the error was all dead ends. Used FAQ and TT Community for help, but none was found.

I had used their TT Community for another issue. Was successful in finding threads for related topics, but 80% of the querries had no responses. After a struggle to find access to their online support, I finally went to the corp page and found it there. Their chat assistance was good. Could not believe there are no phone numbers, chat address or web address on their product packaging.

Called customer service...called me (explicit)

The rep. would not let me speak to a supervisor and laughed at my frustration. I hung up after a few choice words...she called me back via a blocked phone line and called me (explicit) and hung up! Unbelievable! Tried to phone the corporate office or any department but it turns out it was closed!

Watch the hidden fees!!! You will pay for "free" and then again for additional stupid misc!

TurboTax user for years has to leave due to inability to get questions answered

I have used TurboTax for at least the last five years, but I think it's more like 8 years. Every year I have been able to find information, ask a question and file my taxes easily. This year has been a nightmare, and now I'm going to have to go and get someone to help me. I can't get to the IRS information easily. I accidentally entered something that will not allow me to finish my federal return, and there's no way to delete it. I need to pay one state for a little bit of last year and this year. Can I make one payment? According to TurboTax, no I have to make multiple payments. Why would I want to do that when I can just do it all now at once? I have never in the last five to eight years been so confused about filing my taxes. I have hit a new level of exasperation with TurboTax and their inefficient system.

Locks up on the error check.

Every time i start an error check on my federal taxes the software locks up and then stays locked up for hours. I tried rebooting and have switched browsers. Nothing works, so frustrating!!!!

Great for taxes!

I filed for myself and my husband this year for the first time using TurboTax and I was VERY impressed. They made it really easy to do my taxes. I put doing taxes off for a while - I was dreading the process! However, I was really pleased with the program and didn't have a single issue. I will continue to file using their program and no longer dread tax time!

TURBO TAX SCAMMMMM

They are sneaky. Watch out for unknown upgrades. I wanted Free Edition and was put to Delux and didn't notice last year and was charged 60 dollars to file! RIP OFF!

.... February 5th, 2013

Your site has become a HUGE RIP OFF!

To whom it may concern; you took too long to respond to a question I had so I found a secure site that my coworkers shared and paid less than $13.00 for my federal and state taxes to be e-filed into my checking account. You guys have become too expensive and I need the money I worked so hard for. Thanks for your past help, but I couldn't pay what you guys were charging. The $29.99 "bank charge" is a bogus fee and you know it, it's too bad many of your customers will pay because they are not aware of other options.

Your former customer, "that is very disgruntled with your bogus charges"

Cathy

I am not real happy with my return. it seems like every year I keep getting less and less back from my fed tax return. I work a lot of overtime during the year and I used to get back around 2500.00, since I've been using turbo tax, I'm lucky to get back 1000.00. whats going on over there. I cant even try anything else, because it e-filed already. you can bet next year I wont be using this, and I will also tell a lot of other people too!

Turbo Tax is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!

I've refiled almost TEN times in one day and they keep on rejecting BOTH my state and federal tax. I tried to find a live chat, posted questions in their dumb question forum, and tried calling their help center. No luck whatsoever! I just don't want to be be billed or anything. I wish to use someone else, but don't know if I even can do that now...so will I even get my taxes??!?! IDK

Wanted to use TurboTax

I decided to switch back to a downloadable version of TurboTax so that I could make changes because I was audited. So I wanted to make sure the download version could access the previous online version's data. Apparently it can't and after spending hours with advisors, I don't even know if my faulty 2011 return can be fixed online. Their advice is to buy both years downloadable versions!!! I'm pissed and I suspect that my return was faulty because the online version logged out before I had a chance to save records I put in!

To whom it may concern,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to send a thank you letter, I will try the website as well. I just wanted to say Thank you very very much. I was very stressed out about my taxes. I have a lot of complicated incomes to file and I have been reading up on everything I need to do and it has taken time and has been overwhelming more often than not. I am using your free services because I owe taxes and can't afford paying anything more, however, I have seen many great services your website offers and know I can find uses for them in the future. I filed a much needed extention and was approved which has emediatly lifted much stress and worry. I have already begun filing my taxes and know I can get it done quickly. Turbo Tax is easy to use, I haven't seen a more user friendly website. I am confident I can complete my taxes now and am worry free. I appriciate and am very thankful for your commitment to excelence. Thank you.

Customer Service and False Advertisement.

For the past several years I have been doing my parents return with ease. This year when I got ready to pay the charge was a whopping $89.90. The federal return was supposed to be free. I tried to contact customer support but could not get a person...only a computer that kept taking me in circles until it disconnected by saying...GOOD BYE! Come on! This is not professional and will advise my parents to go some where else next year.

I will never use turbo tax or turbo tax card (greendot) again

My IRS federal refund was deposited on 2/1/2012, I was able to pay one bill with the card. The company then placed a security hold on my account, I called and they had me fax in my ssc,ID,and proof of address and said it would be 5-7 days for the hold to be taken off of my account. They stated they were unable to advise me as to why the account was placed on hold. Now 7 days later the hold has not been released, I called and spoke with a representative and they then stated that there is a new number that you have to fax this information to and they will begin processing it and the funds should be released in 2 days. All this time I have been calling and noone told me about this new number until the day my money should of been available. This has caused me to have to borrow over 2000.00 in order to pay my rent, car payment, as well as a number of other bills. It has now been twelve days and I have not received my money nor can they give me a time limit on when I should

Shame Don't Buy!!!

The Deluxe version is no longer deluxe. Last year and the year before, I bought and used TurboTax Deluxe with pleasure and ease. It was great for both federal and state income tax. Yeah, I had to pay more if I wanted to file my state electronically. But I had the option to mail or e-file. This year, same name, similar row of checked boxes. One major difference; state income tax is now an additional $39.95. This has now become a rip-off. Instead 0f being $42 for federal and state, it is now $81.95! Adding insult to injury, if you go to TurboTax's website, it is $36.95 for state only! This is not worth the time and effort. This is the last time I will purchase this product. I do not, would not and will never again recommend TurboTax to anyone! TurboTax gives fresh meaning to Caveat Emptor; Buyer Beware! They should be ashamed of their premeditate sham. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! I was a suckered in, don't you be too.

Can't Transfer Data from Last Year's Return to this years. Hours Lost

Been a user of Turbo Tax 9 years and never had a problem inputing last years data to the current year. The software allowed me to pull data after shutting down on numerous occasions while working on that return. But last year, the pdf option imposed itself right at the end after one is exhausted from tax preparation. It saved my tax file only in PDF. Why didn't it also keep the return i had saved numerous times during the input process??? It did not lead to the same mistake with my son's taxes and he is in normal tax format.

This year, I am going through their unusual hoops to save my taxes in case I purchase Turbo Tax next year (unlikely now) and I want to import this year's data into next years Turbo Tax. A conversion utility is unlikely with the pdf format and this is a fatal and glaring error in the product. Transfering data was a key reason i have continuted to purchase TT. Wow, it was frustrating to find for the first time in 9 years, all that input time was lost!

Used to file taxes this year

I used this software and was very happy with it. It caught all my deductions and gave me the biggest tax refund possible.

.... June 14th, 2011

Taxes made easy.

I really liked the Turbo Tax software. It was simple to figure out what to file and what deductions I got. They also have an extensive support network to help you. This is much easier than doing the forms yourself!

Have used Turbo Tax since 2000, but am now wondering if I have been losing money ever since than.
This year our Federal tax return check was sent to us for $264.00 more than what Turbo Tax stated. The I.R.S. said there was an error in the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is figured out by Turbo Tax.
I'm afraid what other mistakes it has made before and in the future if I use it again.

Not Happy!

.... April 19th, 2011

Well, I am also dissatisfied with Turbo Tax. Looks like we ALL NEED TO FIND A NEW PRODUCT NEXT YEAR. That's the best way to get them to realize their product is horrible and that their advertising is FALSE. Hit them in the pocketbook.
We read that we received with our very expensive softward ($50) we would get a free state filing. But, when we were ready to e-file the state, it said we owed $19.95. When I researched it, apparently Turbo Tax has agreements only with certain states - states that are in the "Free File Alliance." WHATEVER. How ridiculous. They should put THAT on the box so we can read it BEFORE we buy the software.
ALSO- explanations and help this year were HORRIBLE. Frustrating product. Time to move on to a different product.

.... April 18th, 2011

I have never been more frustrated and disappointed as I was using Turbo Tax 2010, I will never use it again, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. I was not able to claim mileage because of an error on the worksheet and therefore ended up owing rather than receiving the refund that I deserved. I admit to waiting til the last minute because Turbo Tax was dependable in the past. Never again! I beg of you do not use this program, it is a rip-off!

.... April 18th, 2011

2011 Turbo tax program is very poor, I used it for so many years but next year I will switch to H & R block. When asking question on help,
answer is not clear, It does not say if people working full or part time job can claim child care expenses. We have filed so many years
so we know we can but it should be clear information while user asking question.

I am not satisfied. There is no where customer service on line and file trouble
What does that mean? All other years waiting time was short plus there was survey for customer service. This year waiting time is long and there is no survey.

.... April 17th, 2011

I agree with other posts, the 2010 turbotax is not up to previous standards. I too had to look for deductions that were always part of the flow before. I also had a difficult time Efiling, program says you need a "new" PIN (which you do not) and then I could not log into account to obtain it. Heres a bit of brilliance: When I enter my e-mail to get the password reset I get a message saying there is no account with that e-mail. If I try to start a new account I get a message saying there is already an account with that email- and suggests that I try the lost password feature- LOL!! Time to look for a better tax program!

.... April 17th, 2011

I bought the Deluxe version at Staples for $49. It can be used for multiple returns, both state and Fed. It would not load. I got stuck in the online version before I realized the CD was not running. NOWHERE does it tell you that, unlike the CD version, you CANNOT file a second return without paying again. Turbo Tax actually cost me more than the CPA I've been using for years. Turbo Tax SUCKS. I will never be fooled by them again. "There should be a law", you know. Willumum :-[

.... April 17th, 2011

This is not a comment on customer service, rather it is a comment about the current year product. Please route to the appropriate department.

I am most dissatisfied with Turbotax 2010. I have used Turbotax for over 10 years for both personal and business taxes, introducing my children and parents to the product as well. However, this year the product does not have the same quality. First, I had to find several deductions which I have taken for many years (education deduction, nonreimbursed business expense etc) even though I took them last year while using turbotax.

I was frustrated with the pseudo "guideme" section which DIDN'T guide one as in prior versions. Rather, it selected for you.

But, MOST DISTRESSING, is the plethora of ads - every time I finished a section I had to choose not to buy something. Though my state HAS NO STATE TAXES, still I had several screens to complete to not buy or use a product. What happened to the wonderful product you used to sell - a product you could use without constantly being bombarded with ads?

I cannot help but think there is a better product out there.

I had purchased your Deluxe Version of
Turbo Tax about mid-March, 2011. When I
attempted to install it on my computer,
a Window popped up on my screen to
advise me that I needed to have a service
intall it for $38.00. Initially, I
thought it was my computer, so I attempted
to install it again, only to discover
that the same Window was on my screen
with the same message.
I have used Turbo Tax Deluxe since 2004
without any such notice of having some
service install your tax service CD.

Is this something new? Neeedless to say,
I will not use Turbo Tax next year to
file my 2011 tax return.

TurboTax rocks if you know how to use it

Been using TT since 2002. First year = disaster. Second year = better. Now I'm a pro, and I save more than $400 a year by not having to hire a CPA (who isn't nearly as meticulous as I am) to do my Schedule C business taxes for me. I do wish they would address the updates situation and quit issuing updates in March that have nothing to do with IRS changes. People want to file their taxes as early as possible to get their refund and TT needs to get on it.

.... March 31st, 2011

After buying the online version Deluxe for 49.95 and the state for 39.95 NOT realizing that it was not the same as the CD version you buy in a store where you get 5 free returns and you pay $19.95 for the state I called customer service and was given a download for the other 4 returns and they reimbursed the $39.95 for the state.. thumbs up for great customer service but thumbs down for the misconceptive advertising on the online version!!

.... March 28th, 2011

I've used TurboTax for years, but filing for 2010 has been a nightmare. My return as prepared by TT has a several $1 thousand business loss that TT failed to deduct from my adjusted gross income. I didn't notice but IRS did, adjusted by tax liability and tax refund by more than 2x. Of course I couldn't find any way for TurboTax to help with the free state return and had to complete that return manually to change the tax due from $150 to a $1300 refund. I definately will be looking for a different tax prep service next year!

Turbo Tax ripoff
Turbo Tax is what is on my mind today... I used them to do my taxes and they had the charge of the federal tax fee as $26.95... but when it went to my state taxes, it didn't say what the charge would be, and it kept asking me did I want Audit protection, which I declined...SO, the moral of my story is... I ended up paying $63.90 for federal and state... AND I think it is a bunch of BS that they charged me $36.95 to do my state return, it was one sheet compared to Federal. I called customer service and of course got the run around, so my friends, lets share this with all of our friends and see what type of business they get next year, I won't be using them!!!!!! And I am not the only one peeved about their fees, I saw a bunch of others who were too! I told them I would share my experience... so here it is
