Virgin Mobile Reviews

Virgin mobile is my one and only mobile company i would and do...to every one.

I can honestly say that i am satisfied with virgin mobile i have been a customer for over 5 yrs now , yes as with any cell phone providers there are a couple things that need improvement but the PROS OUT WEIGH THE CONS TRE0MENDISLY.

The phone service is the worst

I have been with virgin mobile for three years in that time i to replace my first phone and it still didn't work so I bought another phone from them, had for two weeks it started messing up so they replace it now it starting to mess up. Im on a plan that has unlimited data but for the last two months I keep getting messages from them saying that I have reach my data limit for the month. I have had problems with my minutes going fast so I call them and them why , they said they was charging by 30 seconds instead by the minute and if I made a phone call and it was one minute and one second I would get charge for two minutes.

Defective one

i brought a Samsung phone and it turned out to be defective in all aspects.. I talked with the customer care guys for more hours.. But all they told is No..It's nearly impossible..It's a terrible experience for me..

Not a bad service for the price

Virgin Mobile is what I would call the "Contract Free" version of Sprint, since no contract is needed. But by the time you are done paying for the minutes each month, you would be saving more money if you actually signed a contract with Sprint or Verizon.
Overall; Is a convenient way for someone to have a cell phone without the worry of a contract

.... April 10th, 2013

not so fun

Hang on. It all sounds good but.. The phone would not work, they insisted it was the network but not the phone and would not pay return shipping. the website said it worked but only had one bar of signal and no data capacity. My phone arrived and would not activate leading to customer service hell with people who spoke a strange language and kept passing me to another goon.

Worth the money

I have had virgin mobile for sometime now and there service is great . Switching and upgrading have some bugs hope they get it fixed. Not quite understanding the new plans but if u go to virginmobileusa.com they have them there. Still you can't beat the price of Virgin Mobile.

OK Quality, Very Poor Customer Service

My partner and I each purchased new phones through Virgin Mobile USA. Not long afterwards, Virgin upgraded the voice mail system and both of us lost voice mail service in the process. I lucked out and was able to restore VM service in about a day, although it took 2 phone calls to accomplish this. My partner, however, has been without VM for over a week, and Virgin keeps "escalating" and "referring," but not resolving. Literally hours on hold, repeated questions and no progress. We're about to cancel the service.

HTC EVO 4G phone - Joline Smith

Been with Virgin 5 months. On second phone since Dec. Last night Tech support had me enter numbers etc after I got off the phone with Her and it wiped out everything on my phone. Contacts, emails, texts, client information. Had waited 20 min for let customer serv. Then 32 min. For Tech Support. Floored and upset. I was getting an Error 67 on my phone and my email had been locked before the call. Come on the girl should have warned me. I am not sure it is all the phone I think the service reception may be a problem also.

Don't SWITCH TO VIRGIN MOBILE!

I ordered an iphone from VM. Waited 2 days to have my number ported and then the phone worked for 12hours and went completely black! They wouldn't send me another until I shipped it back at my own cost!!! I've spent about 7hours talking to VM with still only some of my money refunded. They are awful. They've lied to me over and over again. A different story every time I call. Worst decision EVER to go to VM.

.... December 15th, 2012

VM is the worst of the lower tier

Terrible customer service and very limited calling range. I wrote out a long list of supporting evidence which was erased when I posted. Can't take time to list all of these issues again.

Its great

I used to have a Virgin Moble phone and it is a good plan. you dont have to have a contract which is nice if you lose your job ( you wont get late fees, you just pay when you can and dont pay when you cant)Costumer service is okay, its not the best but the website has answers to pretty much anything you could have a question for. the phones themself are a bit old fashioned but they work like any phone should! i had good service in my location but there where a few areas i had little to no service in areas people with other services (verizon, tmoble, ect) had perfect service

.... October 22nd, 2012

ok so me and my boyfriend talk on the phone at night and sleep on the phone too but EVERY time after 2 hoursrand 2 mins it hangs up in the call by itself...does it have something built in it for it to do that? or can you turn to it off?? cuz its getting annoying

.... October 1st, 2012

I find myself forced to 'upgrade', in other words, purchase another phone if I want to send pictures from a phone I got for that specific purpose. I don't care to hear excuses about changes in technology that 'force' this issue. If that is the case, technology should be able to FIX this. This is abuse pure and simple.

Virgin Mobile Review...1 Year later

I have now been using the same virgin mobile account for over a year now. I bought the LG Optimus V & this review is written with my experience using that phone.

I have used this phone in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, & Illinois. Overall the 3G coverage provided has been more than sufficient. Every now and again you'll find a spot where signal drops out. But I have not encountered any major gaps. I have NEVER had any service outages in the service area. The 3G speed is not the FASTEST I have seen but it will hold its own(especially when you consider the low price!) I signed up for automatic withdraw as my payment method and I have had NO problems. Every month my service continues smoothly and I have never been overcharged or doubled charged.

Speaking to an actual person @ customer service can be a bit tricky. Pressing 0 or saying "Representative" does not always produce the desired effect. Sometimes multiple calls are required to get through. But...Almost any question you could ever have is available on their website. Most common tasks such as number change, esn change, or payment options are easily processed online(OR just logon the helpowl.com! lol)

I would recommend Virgin Mobile to the majority of people looking for an affordable plan/ smart phone.

Great service considering the price!

I hear a lot of complaints about virgin mobile. I have to say that their rates are the cheapest around, no contracts needed, the phones available are getting better and better. We bought their LG Optimus V well over a year ago and are still perfectly happy with it's performance.

The couple of times we've had to contact their customer service, although the accents could be a little difficult to understand at times, they were friendly, polite, and resolved the issues within a few days.

I know people on two year contracts paying upwards of $100 or more a month for limited minutes, data, and messaging, whereas we pay $25 a month (It's $35 now for anyone interested, we were grandfathered in), get 300 minutes, plus unlimited data and messaging. Since the smart phone we bought from them, at a very reasonable, flat out cheap price, has WiFi we have often just used it which saves on data.

I would recommend Virgin Mobile over most other phone companies when it comes to getting the best value for your money.

Never go Virgin

Worste company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is non-existant and I could never recommend them to anyone. Would never touch any Virgin product again and am canceling any I already have.

Worst internet connection and customer service EVER!

Shame on Richard Branson. I don't see how this company remains in business. Customer service reps who don't speak intelligible English, hang up on you, lie to you, and basically just don't have a clue what they are doing. Anyone who has the broadband to go internet service knows what I'm talking about. I see from allllll the other bad reviews that I'm by far not the only one with bad experiences with this company. I won't be surprised when they go bust. You'd think a man with as much money as Mr. Branson could afford to train reps. Does he half ass all his business like this?

My smart phone from virgin is not very smart

I have had my phone replaced 3 times and they all do the same thing. I can not get to my pictures and I can't get into my text. They told me not to download apps. That I would have to uninstall any apps to see text and pictures that the phone don't have memory. But the thing comes with apps I don't use or want but I can't uninstall them. That kinda sucks. They won't fix this problem.

HORRIBLE!

This is an instance where the phrase "You get what you payed for" Is put into play.

A few years back I've purchased an Virgin Mobile Phone. The phones are very cheap. I give them that. The designs are nice too, a bit outdated. But the service is horrible. You rarely get a connection. Which makes the phone useless. Customer Service was useless as well. They didn't know much of what they were talking about. I got that "There's nothing we can do" answer numerous times. After said incident I do not recommend Virgin Mobile to anyone. Unless you enjoy a rocky connection on your phone, and horrible customer service.

Unreliable & inconsistant service

Began with Beyond Talk in December, 2011, and was very pleased with service first two months but most of February and March has been frustrating. Data has become a catch-as-catch-can experience, deteriorating to the point where I honestly find it unusable for the most part. Truthfully, there ARE times when throughput is terriffic, with download speeds exceeding 2gig - AND far too much time when speeds dip beiow the 600kbps minimum that defines 3G service. I monitor my usage and am not subject to throttling to 256k but get speeds that are even lower than that so weather apps cannot load, maps and navigation usage is impossible and browsers struggle fir minutes to load simple pages - when I have ANY CONNECTIVITY AT ALL! Even texting is impossible at times with messages sent and received hours and hours in delivery. And, worst of all, calls have been dropped - incoming calls do not get through and it is impossible to make outgoing calls! VIRGIN IS NOT DELIVERING THE SERVICES I HAVE PAID FOR AND THET HAVE CONTRACTED FOR! Customer service has attempted to resolve issues by having me reboot, even resetting and reactivating my phone - and I am always told they are aware of no issues with their system. It appears, as a customer, I am expected to accept this poor level of service when there are other companies providing RELIABLE SERVICE. It seems a poor way to operate. I am tolerant but as Virgin is seemingly failing to address the issues I expect I will be only one of many who will leave them with a bad taste in my mouth and very little to say other than warnings to those considering signing on with them - not to be ugly, I'll keep it to one word: "Don't."

Virgin mobile is not the site to go to there phones break easily and then you just gotta go buy a new one automatically. This is my 13Th phone with them for two years straight. So I basically spent $600 for phones in two years. All im saying is go with a different company.

Virgin Mobile is Lousy!

I was with Assurance Wireless (AW) prior to (foolishly) transferring over to Virgin Mobile (VM). I upgraded from a basic phone to an Android. Assurance Wireless doesn't support Androids, so I switched over to VM because I liked the Android. Well, first I went from free with AW to $35.99 per month with AW. Then, it took them over 2 weeks to enable the Data. I emailed Customer Support daily, explaining I STILL had no use of data. Daily, I received an automated response informing me that whereas I had only 24 hrs to respond to this automated message to inform them if my problem was resolved or not, they had 72 hours to get back to me! Furthermore, their Customer Service is outsourced to India. Nothing against that, except the 30 second lag, their inability to understand my questions AND the poor reception due to an overseas call!
Finally, after filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), I receive a personal phone call from Shondra. She informs me she will personally send me her contact info in an email, should my problems continue. She initiates a 3-way conversation with Executive Escalation. For over an hour, I'm on the phone with them. They finally activate my Data. Thank G-d! I hang up with them, and SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!
When they activated my Data, they de-activated my phone! I then receive an email from BBB informing me that Shondra has contacted them to say my problem has been resolved.
Ummmm; No it hasn't, Shondra! And you lied to me X 2 that you'd email me your personal contact info, should my problem continue. It's continued & still continues!
So, do I recommend Virgin Mobile? Take a wild guess.
In frustration, I called Assurance wireless back & asked if I could please switch back to them? They said no problem.

Virgin Mobile Mifi - No Service, No Support

I purchased a Virgin Mobile Mifi 2200 from Walmart in Feb. I had a little trouble installing it because I had a communication manager from ATT on my computer and it is how I connect to WiFi but I got thru it. Less than a week later, the mifi quit working. I called the 800 number every hour or so and I just kept being on "hold". Finally I held until someone answered 1 hour and 47 minutes later! They then told me that there was a update and they would have to reboot me. We got it reactivated and I was assured that the update was only once a year and I should have no further problems. I have now called them on 9 different indicents of "no internet service" and I have to go thru a very loud auto answer from a voice who calls itself "Ales". Alex is way too happy - probably becuase he delights in the torture one must go thru to speak to a person. I have always talked to people with very thick Indian accents and they used American names like Rick and Jason. If your name is Indian and you have such a thick accent, just use your real name! Finally I learned how to reactivate my unit by myself and found I was having to reactivate every time I turned it off. The person I spoke with last week seemed amazed that I turned it off and took it other places. Isn't it for that purpose? Finally, I yelled loud enough that they sent me a replacement. Supposedly I am not supposed to have to reactivate it every time - finally someone listened! The new one came after I had no service for a week. I was assured that I would keep the same account and the $40 unlimited service that is no longer available. I entered the new EIN into my computer and phones when I got the new unit and expected it to work. NO! I had to got thru Alex's happy little voice and hit the number 1 7 times becuase he now walks you thru the activation steps before he lets you talk to a live person in India. I called 3 times and each time they acted like I wasn't following the steps. Finally one guy put in a ticket and said the problem was at their end and my Mifi was just start working within 4 hours. 4 hours later, no service. I called and went thru pressing 1 and listening to happy Alex until I reached another man. It was ten p.m. and I give my account number and password to the guy and tell him to check my account because I am not explaining the problem again. He comes back on the line, calls me by my first name (legal name, not what I go by) and proceeds to happily tell me that there is no problem. I differed with him that there was a problem because after the promised time I still have no service and I am going out of town the next day and I would like to use the Mifi with my laptop. I am then informed that they have 72 hours to fix my problem. I asked for a manager and after holding for 10 minutes I am told that the manager is on another very long call and no one can help me. I give up. I am going to just cancel the service. I was saving some money over the ATT Motorola Wifi and was able to use the Mifi with phones and laptops, but it is not worth all the time I have spent on hold and all the "unlimited" 5G I have paid for and not been able to use. Do not buy this product. It's a great idea and when it works it is fine, even faster than I expected. When it goes wrong there is no way to get help. There is only one 877 number, no email addresses, and no people who speak English to help.

I never should have switched

Virgin Mobile

Not all cell phone companies are alike. Here at Virgin Mobile, we believe happy customers stick around longer. We don't believe in pushing one-size-fits-all, take-it-or-leave-it commitments on people. And it might be crazy-talk, but some of us don't like to see our customers flushing their hard-earned money down the drain.

With Virgin Mobile, you only pay for what you want. So there's no waste. No hassles. No flushing. Get Unlimited Messaging, Email, Data, and Web on our Beyond Talk plans. Plans start at only $25/month and there is no contract. Just choose your talk. That's all there is to it. If things change, you're free to switch it up.

So jump on board with Virgin Mobile and find what you've been looking for: great value without a contract, advanced 3G and touchscreen devices, and maybe even a little fun along the way.

Never been through a worst nightmare in my entire life!

after logging 23 supervisor Emp. I.D's and going in circles I am starting to think buying the samsung Intercept was a mistake! I bought my insurance March 31st. got posted on CC April 1st no biggie, but had a roll over accident april 7th breaking my left leg, phone was nowhere to be found, EMT's didn't picj it up, crash site, "nothing" So I call for a claim and my insurance wasn't posted til April 10th..? The phone was 1 month old and even with my documentation showing when I paid VIA CC for insurance on march 31st they said I didn't have insurance at time of loss? even though after deductible, lost month top-up prepaid and the 10 dollar insurance charge billed to CC. I am S*&T out of luck! been through a circle of call backs, to 24-72 call back. to several logged supervisor's to even now an operations manager which never called me back within the hour like promised (twice). This company has major issues and I am seeking legal representation.

My Virgin Mobile Broadband To Go Internet wouldn't connect Sunday evening 4-17-2011. I couldn't even go to the Virgin Mobile website. This is the 2nd time this has happened in the last month. I have yet to be able to reach customer service. I get a recording & then the phone disconnects!!! I was also double charged for this service. I added a Top Up card & then was also billed on my credit card the same day. Will probably be switching service later, but I just bought this a few months ago. Without dependable customer service in the U. S., it isn't worth the cost.

Took extra pymt, thank goodness I had the money in my account and didn't have bounced checks. For three days I sent e-mails with no response. I found out how to reach a real person by coming on this site. I'm getting a refund but it can take up to three days. I had a hard time understanding the rep. BTW, Alex hung up on me too. I would not recommend this company at all.

I have been a VM customer for about 6 years now. In the beginning, pretty good service, customer service, much, much better. Now, wow what can I say, the worst service, the rudest, most ignorant people on the face of the earth! My phone has not worked right for 2 weeks now.Cannot receive texts. Which is a real problem for myself.I've been promised, "phone will work in 24 hours", every time I've called.Still not working!!I am filing a complaint with the BBB today. VM, I've been a loyal customer, but no more. Your companny has gone straight down hill, and is moving quicker, from the complaints I've read. Yes I too was hung up on, talked to "supervisors", and 2 weeks is too long. A class action suit, I'm in!!

.... March 24th, 2011

I am totally frusterated. My husband (who needs phone service only occassionally) had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery. We had just barely added another $40.00 to our prepaid plan. When things calmed down and we couldn't get in touch with him via his phone, I called Virgin Mobile CS and spoke to a Juan. He couldn't help me because he couldn't locate our account because we couldn't remember our pin. He couldn't locate it by name or phone number because he said our account didn't exist. So I guess we have over $60.00 dollars out there that we can't access. When I asked how we could find our pin without getting into an account, he didn't know!!! DO NOT use VIRGIN unless you top up every 30 days whether you have time or NOT.

STAY AWAY FROM VIRGIN MOBILE. CHEAP PRICES BUT NO INTERNET SERVICE. WHY BUY A SMART PHONE WHEN ALL OF THE SMART SERVICES ARE UNAVAILABLE
BECAUSE THE WEB IS DOWN. TOTAL AGGRAVATION.

My Virgin Mobile Broadband to go USB modem worked well for the first two months, but now the connection speed is so slow that pages won't even load. The help line is useless. Very long wait with torturous "music". When I do reach a real person, he/she can barely speak English and is not able to help with the problem. Avoid this company.
