The connection is terrible. It has high latency and would disconnect. "high-speed" internet.

Gotta love this one.
We finally gave in to the seductive advertising stuffed in our phone bills (multiple accounts) for buying an over-priced computer for 'only' $22 dollars a month added to the phone bill.

We signed up, only to be told we have to pay cash as that their records FROM 2001 INDICATED THAT MY CREDIT SCORE WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH.

Needless to say, we are shopping for ANY alternative to this joke of a company. No, we NEVER got the advertised speed on our DSL lines.

Stuff it, Windstream.

I have been having such slow speeds with our Windstream internet that its not worth the cost. I'm an online gamer and cant even play. When I call and talk with Windstream, once a week since May 2012, they tell me they are working on it but the cost is so much and they have to get approval by higher up. I feel they are ripping everyone off. Maybe if everyone cancels service until they get it fixed they will fix it.

CONS:

Service is oversold and not supported/upgraded
Service is too expensive for what you are getting compared to the national average DSL/Cable options
Modem loses sync/PPoE resync..
Slow speeds no where near advertised even during PEAK hours(complete BS but we'll get into the 60% rule in another discussion)
high latency
Phone support has to follow flow charts even though you tell them you aren't a fresh fish and know what you are talking about and how to check things out.

PROS: Not many

Techs are pleasant to deal with
Phone support is pleasant to deal with(most of the time)

Worst ISP there ever was...

Had Windstream for about 2 years, it hard to do anything online from trying to load simple webpages to trying to watch youtube videos. I just upgraded the services and I have the exact same speed as I did since I've had Windstream...I really do believe they need to be shut down completely cause it's a horrible company

It took 5 yrs for windstream to up grade their service lines in Central PA ...The FEd.Gov. gave them Millions to do it for free ! Now the new service is in and they charge us few "complainers " double what others in the same zip code pay for internet service....

I have had Windstream DLS for 2 months now. It is the only option in the rural area I live in.

I originally ordered the 3.5 mbps service. Not once have I received that speed. Usually it is at .5mbps or less (the exception being after midnight and before 7am, it hits 2-2.5mbps then)

Do not use Windstream if you have a choice. A little bit of research has revealed to me that they have a habit of over-selling their bandwidth and make no reasonable attempts to resolve the speed and latency issues.

Windstream may be commiting fraud by selling 12mbs service in my area when they cant provide 3.o mbs service. Have 3.0 mbs service and just had a speed test of 0.17 down load and 0.34 up load Then know they have a problem, claimed it's an equiptment issue that will be upgraded some time in the future. If your knowingly selling a service you cant provide it sounds like fraud to me.

I think its crap that we pay very high cable service bills with Windstream and we subscribe to HBO and still cant have HBO GO!!!

hates windstream

windstream sucks i have complainted several times no help my speed is supose to be 3.0 but it always is .09 they say over usage in my area uable to get another internet service where i live.

I have had Windstream DSL for almost 3 years. My download speed is 200K on a good day! It's supposed to be 1.5meg. I have called them so many times I can't remember. They will do nothing to upgrade the line. If anybody fires up a class action, I want to be in on it. I HATE this company!

If you have a choice, I don't because they have a monopoly in our area, DO NOT get internet service through Windstream. DSL is very unreliable! We are constantly losing connection: on & off, on & off... blah. It's extremely annoying. We own an online business and this makes it very difficult for us! Save yourself the trouble & aggravation and stay away from Windstream.
