TRYING TO GET HELP ON HALF.COM

I am trying to get help regarding my selling on half.com and have discovered there is none!!!!!!! I called ebay customer service to see if they could help & their answer was simply - they cannot help with half (even though it is one of their sister companies) in any way other than by me sending an email!! I've also tried that - several times & never received a reply (in other words - they seem to have NO interest in helping sellers on their half.com site - even though it would, most likely, help us help them make more money!)
NOT GOOD from a stock holders point of view! NOT GOOD from a sellers point of view!!
AND because of that is, pretty much, like shooting themselves in the foot both earnings wise & bottom line!! ebay - how about getting half to help us sellers on half get the assistance we need to straighten out problems that really do effect our ebay selling accounts, abilities, dashboard, etc. You have neglected to address am important branch of your company and you NEED TO DO THAT ASAP!!!
THIS PROBLEM WILL NOW BE SPREAD ALL OVER THE INTERNET VIA VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA IN ORDER TO GET SOME ATTENTION & ACTION FROM YOU, since there seems to be no other way to do so!!!!!!!!

Great website for selling!

If you have anything old or unused ebay is the place you can sell it! you can get a very good deal on your price from auctions. Overall ebay is def a website you should check out if your into online marketing.

More competitive bidding and pricing.

Compared to Amazon, the prices in general seem to be lower. However, the tradeoff is that you need a fair bit of skill before you can start winning auctions to get those prices.

A good site, but overcrowded with merchandise

Ebay has always been a good website for the average consumer to sell their items with minimal risk of getting burned. However, presently there is so many companies and power sellers involved with selling their merchandise on Ebay. There are pages and pages of just about every item imaginable. Can be overwhelming trying to decide who to buy from.
Overall: Ebay is a good seller/buyer website. But presently has became too comercialized.

Devastated by eBay

I was selling wonderfully for about six months, building up a good business. I ran into a slight problem and kept my buyers informed of the situation and they were more than happy to wait. I made sure to keep them up to date on what was happening, again, they were happy to wait for the merchandise because it was such a good deal. Well, I get a call from an eBay rep asking what the problem was and I explained it to her and told her that the buyers were willing to wait and she could read my emails to see that. She informed me that she didn't care...that I needed to complete my transactions that same day or cancel and refund the ones that I couldn't and that they would be putting my account on restriction until I complied and after I complied they would release my account but with limits...whatever.

First of all, they removed all my listings so I couldn't send out the ones that I did have available to complete asap. When I called for them to put back the buyer information, the only way they could do that was to put the cancelled item back (not for sale) but just so I could complete the transaction that I could and mind you, this is after they have already sent that email they send all the buyers telling them that I'm a security risk and a fraud and not to complete the transaction and to get their money back. So, since they put the items back, even after I issued over $800 in refunds, the buyers were still allowed to leave negative feedback. Even the ones that received their items told me that if I didn't ALSO give them a refund, they would leave negative feedback and they did.

While trying to comply with their request and fight with them about buyers leaving negative feedback after their nasty email when they aren't suppose to leave feedback if your auctions are removed, they had logs of me calling every day and sometimes several times a day and I guess they don't like being bothered, not to mention the fact that you WILL NOT get the same answer to anything from any two reps. No one over there knows what they are doing. Anyhow, after all this and eBay telling me over and over again that after I complied with everything they asked, my seller privil. would be reinstated they turn around and suspend my entire account and to top it all off, once they indef. suspend your account, they no longer wish to deal with you and won't even allow you to speak to a supervisor.

Now, I'm disabled and don't receive any government assistance or anything like that so this was my only source of income. Also, they did this to me a week before Christmas and unlike a lot of other sellers, since my items were new and at 1/2 the price of retail, I was doing very well, but they didn't care...they just cut me off at the knees plus now I have over $10,000 worth of product which I would have easily sold in a month on the streak that I was on, that I can now not do anything with.

You would figure that since the sellers are the ones that make eBay money that they would be most concerned about protecting their sellers but they are not. I have since learned that there are deceptive ways to now open "stealth" accounts which really sucks because eBay actually use to be a fun place to do business and now it's just as slimy place were you have to be as big a dirt bag as they are just to survive.

Also, it seems to me that a lot of their business practices are illegal but I haven't heard of anyone suing them...well I guess since Hilary Clinton is allowed to sell a tissue with tears and no one else is, they must be greasing a lot of government wheels as well, so...with no other options, we're stuck like chuck, right?!

<3

I have used eBay since I can remember! I love this site. I have bought many cheap but high quality items, and it never gets old. "Winning" an item is so much fun! Easy to use with great customer service and variety of products!

Service itself is ok.

If you are on the buying end, ebay is the best service without question, with its quick response customer service and simple user interface. Too bad that you need to get a paypal to sell your wares here...

.... July 12th, 2012

Could be more lucrative to sell.

If I'm just going to buy stuff here, I have no complaints; The interface is easy to use, and the staff respond quickly if any problems arise with my order.

However, good luck making any money here selling anything. There's fees for putting up the product listing, there's fees you pay if someone makes a purchase from you, and there's fees to use Paypal in accepting credit card purchases. You basically end up making next to nothing. I really don't know how people do it.

Ebay is Great if You're Savvy.

Ebay is a wonderful site for selling and buying unusual as well as common items. Anything from antiques to beauty care products. I myself tend to purcchase scented essential oils, occasionally a random item I'd like to try, and sometimes older electronics.

EBay can be a lot of fun trying to bid on items and exciting when you win a bid!

That being said, being safe on ebay is very important. Check on the seller you intend to purchase from, before making a bid or buying something outright. I find it best to buy from the top rated sellers list just to be on the safe side. But if you find something you want to buy from someone who isn't a top seller, be sure to check them out first.

There is also the matter of shipping. Watch those shipping prices! People tend to try to scam excess amounts of money out of people by pricing an item low, then giving it an extremly high shiping price in the hopes that you won't notice until it's too late and you've already paid for the item.

You may, for instance, be delighted to see an ipod touch 4 for a mere $50.00 and think your in luck! But if you didnt glance at the shipping price, you may miss that it's priced shipping is $150. That would mean you'd be spending $200 dollars for a used ipod that you can actually get brand new for about $187. So beware of those shipping prices. Always check them!

The other thing you should always check, apart from the seller, and shipping, is the condition of the product they're selling. Even if you have an honest top rated seller whom you trust and who is offering free or decent priced shipping, if you miss the details, you may miss that, that netbook you're ordering is broken or only being sold for pieces. Many times they will list this fact in the details. You just have to look for them.

So, be aware, be safe, and have fun.

No Problems

I have never had problems with eBay, and I have spent literally thousands of dollars on the website. I was able to completely rebuild two cars using the site. I absolutely love it. I have never had a problem with the buyers. The site itself is very user friendly, and anyone can navigate it. Also, the prices can be fairly cheap. You have to watch out and make sure that you are buying from a reputable seller, or else you can really be screwed over. Overall, I love the site.

Cheap & Easy!!

I love shopping on ebay, I can get a lot of things for much cheaper than they sell in stores. Especially on used items. But you do have to be careful with the sellers, if they have bad reviews then stay clear of them, other than that it's a great place to shop for awesome deals.

.... January 19th, 2012

I love ebay!

If you need money fast sell your items on Ebay, that's what i did. I love shopping on there too!

I loved ebay back in the day it was great and on the up and up. Today its a cesspool of scams and frauds mostly perpetuated by ebay itsself. Sooner or later everyone gets burned thats the nature of the corupt beast. Ther is no customer support it is a smoke and mirroe lie, just words. Shill bidding is rampand. Paypal is a cleaver way to cheat people out of banking account information just look how many thousands od people have ben hacked and ripped off. Take it from a knowededgeable long time user they are trouble and like playing russian rulet with your money.

Is eBay Mgmt. Comprised of Ghosts?

I am posting a review regarding eBay to share my experience in the difficulty trying to reach anybody in Management at eBay on Review Owl. I get the total run around from the 866 toll free number...meaning not wishing to disclose contact information for anybody at eBay's headquarters in California. I got somebody from the Philippines today & couldn't understand their language. I understand eBay has outsourced all of it's customer service to India & other countries. Gee...I wonder how much they will save? I'm sure eBay is profitable, but I feel won't continue to be by avoiding calls from their best or any customers. I simply wanted to talk to somebody in Mgmt. through Customer Service today to ask why the rating when leaving feedback can't simply be the 5 star rating? Why do we need to expound on the product - or feedback doesn't get posted...that should definitely be a customer choice...not eBay's. How about giving the Buyers a survey about how they perceive they are being treated by Management. It is absolutely no wonder why people ARE NOT leaving feedback to help sellers...people simply DO NOT have that kind of time. If one leaves a "neutral" rating...it goes against the seller's rating. I do not have time to rate the seller according to eBay's new policy...Detailed Seller Rating. If you buy something that you are giving as a gift...you haven't "test driven" it...so how can one possibly expound? Also...it seems sellers are complaining about shipping costs going up. Does Mgmt. at eBay understand that people don't have "extra" money for shipping right now due to the state of the economy? I think it would be wise for eBay owners to listen to customer's (whether it be buyer or seller's) suggestions, complaints or compliments & give them a Survey to take on eBay's overall job performance. It will be interesting to see what eBay's profit margins are when the postal service raises their rates at the first of 2012 & items are estimated by the Post Office to take twice as long to receive. Is eBay going to charge twice as much in shipping for the items taking twice as long? I have been a fantastic buyer, but am thinking twice now about even buying from eBay at all. If a great customer can't even reach a Supervisor of Manager with a suggestion...how does that make the buyer feel that is making eBay more profitable? The person from the Philippines said she would have to get a message to them & have them "get back with me"...NOT GOOD AT ALL! She told me I would have to reach Mgmt. in California by "snail mail"...she actually used those words...I said by a letter is the only way to reach management at headquarters in California? The customer service representative finally gave me a website to reach California Mgmt. ( which I will share with everyone reading this review)...you may actually get somebody from Mgmt. to email you back. My question is...why is customer support told NOT to give this information out unless they are hard pressed by the eBay customer to give it? Managers in California ought to be taking care of their customers if they want to keep them. The email I FINALLY was given today is: [email protected] . I think they should post that on their home page to make Managers readily accessible to the customers that help them stay profitable.

eBay is a great place to make fast cash!

eBay is a great place to make easy cash only if you have a lot of things in your garage or attic that you no longer need.

I've been selling electronics such as computer parts and mobile phones for a year and I earn a great, decent income from it!

It helped a lot when I ask friends and family if they have anything that I can sell and they gave me a lot of stuff to sell. It was a great pleasure to work with them. I can say it was a sweet experience and I would continue to sell on ebay for a long time although paying eBay fees and Paypal is one thing that I am sick of but it doesn't kill my pleasure of selling to many customers that I love.

I love ebay

I have used ebay for a number of years now and have been very satisfied with the company. They really stand behind their sellers and buyers and it is good to be able to find whatever ya' need online. I have purchased a few products recently for my upcoming wedding and have had a really great experience with the sellers.

.... June 26th, 2011

One other thing I noticed is none of the buyers are leaving feedback. I had 3 separate accounts with different selling venues. While my feedback is at 100% there's only 24 total over all 3 accounts... I've sold well over a 100 items. Since they made all these changes; Not being able to contact your buyer through selling manager, the feedback system itself, & even higher fees???... eBay has RUINED, absolutely RUINED themselves. WTF Donahoe????

.... June 26th, 2011

Wow - I am stunned. Reopened my seller account a few months ago - Seemed to be going well until the shipping fee increase. Since implementing this I went from selling multiple items per day to I sold only 1 item this entire month... & now I have to charge exorbitantly high costs to make a profit, not to mention the high listing fees... I am only staying on here til my listings end & then I'm done with em.. Most of my listings are gone. Hope something sells or I'm not paying for listing fees!!!
Ebay - You're a bunch of idiots!!

Ebay is a great selling site.

Ebay has a great way of selling things that alot of people are looking for. However, their are also fakers who sell you bad things and steal your money.

.... June 7th, 2011

Great Service

Ebay is a great way to connect with other to buy and sell things. I have had success with both. Everyone once and awhile you get a non-payer, but ebay is pretty good about enforcing payment and offering second chance options for this.

.... June 1st, 2011

So many of the good sellers are gone and the overseas junk dealers moved in. It's not worth my time anymore. The site resembles a Dollar General. Ebay needs to bring back real merchandise and customer service. Without those basic essentials they are nothing.

.... April 28th, 2011

a 9% fee on shipping! you gotta be kidding, i'll save 9% and buy somewhere else. what a ripoff!

.... April 22nd, 2011

I'm not happy that ebay continues to lose antique, collectables and the rare and unusual stuff and sellers offering unique merchandise. Was a time the site was loaded with great finds now I see more and more big box and dollar store stuff showing up I guess to replace the rare merchandise? I hope they turn this around because it's becoming rather pointless to browse and shop there for what I'm looking for. As for customer service it's always been iffy and kind of a hassle to get help but over the past couple years it's gotten real bad. It's a real chore to reach them and alot of hassles and stalls. When I have a problem I dread the thought of running the ebay customer service gautlet. The company could most certainly do much better because it's horrible going thru the hide/seek and pass you around from person to person department to department sluff you off treatment.

Great Experiences!

I've had really great customer service, and buying experiences on Ebay. I had an issue with a seller, and contacted Ebay. The problem was fixed very quickly.

.... April 6th, 2011

ebay

Good concept, horrible site. 98% of the time your product gets "bought" by someone trying to scam you, even if you turn on all the safe guards. It doesn't matter that you have enough sense not to ship your product overseas, you still get charged the fees. Better off selling local on craigslist, or using Amazon to sell your products.

.... April 5th, 2011

like others here say the ebay management lies, cheats an steals from its customers. it's what they are known for. nothing but fees, half truths, no truths and scams. i avoid ebay

.... April 4th, 2011

Good for buyers, bad for sellers

The latest round of policy changes is going to tee off many eBay sellers. Now eBay is going to charge the FVF (final value fee, essentially, their "take") based on the total item cost INCLUDING SHIPPING. They say it's to discourage sellers from charging high shipping fees. Yeah. The dispute system is a lot better now, in their defense, and they have lowered/eliminated listing fees just about everywhere. eBay's customer service is almost as bad as PayPal's, that is if you can ever figure out how to contact them. They don't make it easy. If you want to sell something, try upillar.com instead.

I sold an item and buyer asked for refund at 1st i said no and said my reasons for this.....The buyer opend a case,i agreed with the buyer to refund them.I noticed my account had been froze,so called Ebay customer help 0800 number from my mobile and was held on the line for 2hrs30 still none the wiser.....

I was told by all the agents that in case oof an opend case.....Only payment to be held is payment involved in transaction relating open case...
So i asked them so why if thats ur policie have you thenfroze my entire account instead of the single payment transaction involved in open case.....None of them could tell me anything.......

I told one and she said she will look into it why my entire account is frozen instead of just the payment involved in open case as stated in Ebay (Policies)...She came back on the line to then say when i pay the refund my account will then be ok.......I then explaind once again my entire account is froze by Ebay so i can not receive or make payments......They again said it shouldnt be so.How Dumb!!!!!!!!

Also all of the agents tried palming me off to paypal lieing even and saying my account being froze has nothing to do with Ebay.Called paypal and they assured me that it was Ebays doing...

I even have written confirmation stating they have took this action...Other problems this is causing me now is the fact...I have items to dispatch....but im within my rights not to dispatch as yet becouse Ebay havnt given me these payments/transactions yet becouse they have held other peoples payments who have nothing to do with this perticular open case. WHICH IS ILLEGAL ALSO .......BIG BREACH OF POLICIE

I explaind that its not fare on the other people who are all being effected who have nothing to do with this and neither does there transactions...
So now i have 3 items to pay for which i cant.....i have 3 payments which Ebay have froze.

Again against the Law.
And suppose i get more cases opend against me becouse i havnt dispatched item and they have made payment...which i am not in receipt of as EBAY have held it along with how ever many more payments from diffrent transactions with other people who are nothing to do with this open case......

Advice given to me by one Ebay agent after being on the phone over 2 hrs.He advised me not to give the refund and let it got o some 10day escalation pereiod and let Ebay make a descision as they may see it in ur favour...
He kept on saying the reason i think u shouldnt give a refund is i dont think they will return ur item...??????.....How can he make that asumption further more actualy try and advise me that as his job isnt to do that but to tell me the correct procedure simple.......

DO NOT trust this company! My paypal account was hacked for over $2400.00. I had hell to pay to get them to make it right. It took over 4 months to recover the money. The hacker even got into my checking account. Ebay is a dangerous place to shop and the customer service is atrocious. Never share banking information with them, they don't protect it and it's not secure from hackers. I've shopped online over 10 years Ebay is the only place I've had this kind of problem.

.... March 31st, 2011

I think the terrible rating along with the user comments say it all - there's no live help was so ever. What bothers me most is they claim to actually have customer service, a clear fabricated untruth. My advise be a savy consumer and investigate before you trust this company.

I couldn't be more dissapointed... I Put an Iphone up on Ebay and it sold "Buy it now" after about 2 hours... Waited 4 days, and no communication had been made by the buyer.. called customer support and they told me that the buyer was fraudulent.. So i Put the item back up for bid under a slightly different posting, and the same exact thing happened again... SO i Decided to give up on this ebay venture and just move on.. NOT THAT FAST BUDDY ! This morning I checked my bank statement (Like i do every morning) and noticed a charge for $92.37 from Ebay !!! after looking into it, i found that they charged me SELLER FEE's on my two postings that were never paid for, and that they, themselves said that i would not be charged for...

Was unable to communicate with the non english speaking support rep. We both tried but were unable to understand each other. I found this most frustrating and non productive. My problem was never addressed, I don't know where to go from here. I'd describe my ebay support experience as a pig in a polk.

THE 9% SHIPPING FEE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A FEE ON THE BUYERS. I WON'T PAY MORE TO HAVE A ITEM SHIPPED, I'll SHOP SOME WHERE ELSE!

.... March 25th, 2011

No customer service and 9% fee on every item shipped. I'll stick with Amazon and K-mart. The place is nothing but trouble and way to expensive to buy anything from.

SNAD - Significantly Not As Described - Far from customer support, my good lord what a hassle and run around just to reach them. Girl spoken very little english, would leave me on hold over and over and read badly from a scripted messages. Didn't seem to get at all what the problem was. Passed me to 2 other people 1 was a paypal person ..wrong.. the other heard me out and sent me back to the lady I couldn't understand. In the end never did fix anything. Two hours spent going in circles. Still can't access the account. I give up.

I will NEVER shop with ebay again! This was my first time buying online hoping that I could save some money on a phone instead of paying a ridiculous amount since it was outside of my "upgrade" cycle (verizon). NEVER recieved the phone paid for it through bill me later they said I was taken care of. FIVE Months goes by and then bill me later sends me a letter saying I'm way overdue and that now I have to pay for something I never recieved since it was "out of the time window". WHAT A LOAD OF B! This is utterly ridiculous. NOw I have to figure out someway to prove that the seller never sent me the phone how the heck am i supposed to do that!?!?! A word of advice to the novice internet buyers out there NEVER USE EBAY. (Another note bill me later is owned by ebay)
