DANGEROUS PRODUCT
Six months ago, we bought this stove top from Sears through special order. We have been working on our new home for over a year and moved in about three months ago and installed it. We have been using this product since then.Just about a week ago on Fourth of July, I went to heat up something and put the pot on the stove and turned it on, When i went to the refrigerator for a split sec, I heard a huge bomb like sound. It was so loud, my ears popped and the whole house felt impacted.Â
The grills on the top of the stove all broke into pieces and all the knobs flew off. The pieces flew to a max of 13 feet. The knobs and pieces all dented and damaged the wood flooring. Luckily, I wasn't hurt from the explosion.Â
The next business day, I contacted the customer service number on the booklet provided. I told the representative what had happened they told me they would send a member from the "safety team" to the house to analyze what had happened. He came, Wednesday, two days after my phone call. He created an incident report and also told me there had been cases like this previously.Â
The following day, a CC from Whirlpool contacted me and said that the most she could do for us is replace the product or refund us the money. She also recommended that I look around to find a new product and she said she was willing to negotiate
I later found a new product around $400 more than the original stove top and called her, she reputed her previous offer and said she was not willing to help pay the difference.Â
As a consumer I am frustrated. Not only could I have been seriously seriously injured in this incident, but I have been living without a cooktop for almost two weeks now. The wood flooring has been severely damaged not to mention if I were to buy a different stove top model, I will have to get the countertops re cut.Â
I do not recommend this product to anyone. Your safety is the most important thing. The lack of regulation from this company or customer care is appalling. I feel like since God Willing no injury occurred, the company is safe, therefore does not care about its customers .Â
