Nintendo GAMECUBE Reviews
Functionality pretty much obsolete.
While I like my Gamecube titles as much as the next guy, the Wii offers perfect backward compatibility, save for a few peripheral devices. This unfortunately taxes on the Gamecube's usefulness.Sweet!
I just got one for 10 bucks a while ago. I love it as much as i did 5 years ago.Portability.
The thing I like about the Gamecube is just how portable it is. People tend to call the handle at the back "dinky", but I like the feel of it. You can carry around great titles like Super Smash Bros. Melee and Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door very easily. The New Retro
In the year 2011, the seasoned console is now outdated and outdone. However in its time (2001-2006) several AAA titles were released due to the lack of 3rd party support, which for hardcore Nintendo fans, is wonderful. Its software selection is limited but is vast in quality. The system itself was made for portability, as there being a handle or what looks and acts like a handle on its backside.
The system's controllers are very comfortable and should accommodate any hand size. Buttons are accurate and precise. The analog stick is very comfy as it is rubber with rings around it, so your thumb won't slip off. Speaking of slipping off the back L and R trigger buttons are fabulous, being the best I personally have experienced. The system's save data is reliant on memory cards, ranging from many blocks (such as 1000) to just a few (56 or so). A typical game takes about 35 blocks for save data.
Graphical wise, you can tell it has age to it. Colorful, rich graphics with detail, but severely outdated in today's standards. Loading time for games also varies, but is typically short compared to Sony's PS2 and the XBOX. The sound is nothing special, but non-the-less memorable.
Games such as Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Pikmin are worth your time along with 100s of other games, but as I mentioned before, don't be looking for 3rd party Gamecube games.
If you are new to gaming, do not buy a Gamecube to play its games. Rather but the games and play them on your Wii. You will regret buying one, HOWEVER if you are anything like me you will enjoy very much the nostalgia that RADIATES from this machine. I'm not saying this is just for hardcore gamers, I'm only saying it is dated and you are better off with the new stuff.
