An Inexpensive PA Stereo System For Small Private Parties

I purchased the unit simply because I wanted an inexpensive and light pa system that had an fm radio. For this purpose it works fine. The output volume when using the built-in fm radio or sd/usb mp3 player of the unit I received was appreciably loud; however, when I connected my mp3 player to the line/aux inputs there was a substantial drop in loudness even when my player's output volume and that of the unit's is set to maximum. I've used the same mp3 player and musical selections to test many other equipment in the past and have never experienced this problem. One end of the retractable strap handle on the main unit of mine came off on the first day of use. Further examination revealed that the cabinet core is constructed of a thin wall of pressed particle board and the point where the screws affix were supposed to be beefed up by another narrow strip of the same thin layer of particle board stapled underneath the interior of the top of the enclosure. On mine, this narrow strip was not aligned correctly beneath the point of fixation and the mounting screw missed this second layer.

Volume and quality of the sound depends on what you're playing through it. Range adjustments for bass and treble are just so so. Nice that it does allow mounting to a standard speaker stand pole underneath. No way to turn off the disco-type lighting. Hate that the line cord on the active speaker is permanently tethered instead of detachable, just like the rca audio cable behind the passive speaker enclosure. Both are too short for my purposes. Another annoyance is that the matching female audio socket for the passive speaker is an inch above the base of the telescoping antenna. The stereo aux/line input share a controller with the fm receiver and sd/usb mp3 player. The volume of the two microphone inputs are controlled by a separate single control and an adjustable echo controller. Dual rca stereo outputs on the back of the unit work only if the aux/line inputs are being used. Uses a scanner type system to preset fm radio stations and a red led display to indicate the station frequency and audio source. USB and SD card reader plays mp3's well but has limited functionality (Previous-Play/Pause-Next). Audio source button cycles through selections sequentially. Bonus power supply/charging available for USB cabled devices. Overall appearance of system is geared towards younger users.
