Poor Quality Loppers

I have owned Stihl products for over twenty years and have rarely had problems. Thus, I did not mind paying more for the Stihl PL 40 Loppers, which I have owned for thirteen months. However, after only using the loppers on four or five separate occasions, the aircraft aluminum handle bent as I was cutting a 2" branch. I promptly returned to the local Stihl dealer where I purchased the loppers only to be told that it was not a manufacturer problem and that it would not be covered under the Stihl Lifetime Limited Warranty that is advertised (ie.."All STIHL model PA axes, PH hedge shears, PL loppers, PP pruners and PS pruning saws are warranted against defective material or workmanship for the life of the product while owned by the original purchaser (other than for purposes of resale) when used for all applications."). Nonetheless, I did request the dealer return the loppers to Stihl for evaluation. I spoke with the dealer earlier today (two weeks after taking them in) and was simply told that Stihl would not honor their warranty. I didn't expect a new set of loppers, but I did expect a new handle. In either case, the bottom line is this...based off my experience with the Stihl PL 40 Loppers, you will be better served paying less for a set of loppers not constructed with aircraft aluminum handles and from a company that honors its stated warranty.
